Concept Theory: Distant Storm Clouds / Storm?

Just testing the water here, does anybody know of a way in which I might create the look of an approaching storm? Clearly, the storm weather conditions are great - but I would like to try and create something in the distance. Ominous and menacing. Any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions!

Mmm, I think this might be a little bit ambitious :) but if anyone does have any suggestions, I'd be interested to hear them!

Didn't someone do a dust storm using particle effects one time? You may need to search.

There's also still a BIS_fnc for dust storms from Arma 2 PMC in the library. And I saw a snow template somewhere. If you want to create a storm in the distance you might have to adjust these scripts or make up own particle effects. Just doing so by using weather commands is not possible I guess since the weather changes are applied throughout the whole map.

Thanks everybody - that's great. In all honesty, I think it might be a bit too time consuming. It's an idea I'd like to implement, but perhaps at a later date. Going to have to focus on more important features, I think. But if anyone hears of anything - please share! Cheers chaps!

You mean things like this or even that? Would be fabulous to have weather effects of such kind. Although A3's weather comparing to A2's is big step forward, it still have serious limitations and flaws. Not mentioning, it is malfunctioning from the script side and visual too sometimes (not touched much from Alpha stage, I suppose). Anyway, I "lobbied" for such beauties during Alpha. I don't know, if this will happen. Low priority at best I think, and may be even impossible to achieve using current soft for clouds.

I don't know, if/when devs would have enough time and will to take care of such, secondary after all in quasi-milsim, features. They for some reason always seem rather to run forward in haste after something new and new than take all needed time to fully enhance, exploit possibilities in 100% and achieve perfection in the features already provided (thus we have third Arma still bearing issues known from the very beginning and very wide area for user-made improvements).

As for user made solutions I'm highly pesimistic. Particles, we can use, IMO will not bring us any close to such results, instead probably will take from us much CPU/GPU power.
