you know, all this hassle for inventing an imaginary flag for an imaginary state in an imaginary timeline... then imagine how it must have been when REAL states get independent and have to choose flags.. wow.gif

Are the Malden isalnds(excluding Nogova) communist islands? because NATO is on them at the time... If they are then flag number 7 in the Nogovan flag designs is absoluetly perfect for the malden islands! Three small stars for Malden, Everon and Kolgjuev and one big one for Russia biggrin.gif

At the moment I am trying to narrow it down to the 10 most popular, and then open a poll thread.

These forums only support 10 choices for a poll.

Ok, I did some counting. And the 10 flags would be this: (Random order)

9

1

2

10

18

31

7

17

30

14

I haven't counted the new flag from Digital Centurion, but that one is great IMO. biggrin.gif

So these are the standings so far. (Feel free to correct me if anything is wrong.)

i'll add something to the empty crest later today. What i meant by making 3 flags. Is this:

1 for current

1 for hisotical and special occasions

1 communist one for when nogova is under communist control

-Quicksilver

btw who's symbol for #1 and can i use it?

would you belive there are rules to this wink.gif

The post-1949 soviet flags scheme: Mainly red (scarlet), with distinguishing features for each republic's flag; for republic's autonomous subdivisions (only ASSRs), the republic flag with the appropriate inscription in golden letters. Soviet SSR flags had two shades of blue, as expactable, considering they were russian language based (the known "goluboi~ / sky blue vs. sinii~ / blue blue" issue):

Red (“scarletâ€) main field: all.

Light blue: Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Turkmenistan.

Dark blue: Azerbaijan, Latvia, Kirghizia, Armenia and Estonia.

Green: Byelorrussia, Lithuania, Moldavia and Tajikistan.

Plus white: Byelorrussia, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Kirghizia, Tajikistan and Estonia.

Plus golden hammer and sickle: all except Georgia (which had red hammer and sickle).

SSR flags (and most soviet flags containing red) were medium red (aka scarlet, alyi~, or simply krasnyi~), not dark red (aka purpure — purpurnyi~ or kropovyi~). The word "krasnyi~" means simply red, regardless of the exact shade, but in those rare soviet/russian flags using a darker hue this was/is specifically stated. Likewise, a “dark†shade of yellow (golden) was prescribed and used.

I guess if you were being totally authentic you would have to ask wether Nogova was a part of the Soviet Union (and then is it a SFSR (federation of ASSR's i.e Georgia) or ASSR (most likely), if its an ASSR the flag will just be that of the SFSR it belongs to with NOGOVA in cyrillic script over the top in gold.

su-na78.gif

this one is the Nakhtchevan ASSR part of Azerbaijan SFSR

However, if Nogova is independent (albeit closely allied to the Soviet Union) you can probably have a bit more fun with the flag

hu-1949.gif

what seems common is the "old" national flag with the addition of a communist Coat of arms in the center.

phew.

yes, i do have too much time on my hands.

;-)

I made the symbol in #1, feel free to use it...

Well, the front runners are as follows (to create a poll with):

1, 2, 7, 9, 10, 14, 17, 18, 30 & 31...but to be fair, maybe I should leave 1 poll slot open for "other"...

If anyone wants any last minute changes before we switch to a poll, let me know. smile.gif

The big star for the capital and 4 stars for 4 islands.

The strange animal came from an old assyrian decorative pattern.
