Ammo low

Recommended Posts

I haven't posted here for a long time, but I just want to say hello again and ask a mission question.

here is what happened,

In "Ammo Low", the mission where you have to pick off the tanks off the convoy and steal the ammo trucks, I have picked off the tanks off the convoy and slaughtered all the infantry coming out of the trucks. After that, the Taz devil notified me that tanks were coming, so I waited and waited, killed a squad of infantry and waited. Until I waited about 25 minutes (on 4x speed!wink.gif the tanks finally came, I blew them up. Then I told my men to climb on to the trucks, but they say negative! No matter what I try they won't get into the damn trucks, I tried getting into the trucks and to my suprise

the damn trucks won't even turn and moves at 1 mph, I realize now that I can't get back to base.. what do I do now?

If I have to restart the mission again, what can I do to prevent damage to the trucks while destorying the convoy tanks? confused.gif

If that happens, it means the trucks are majorly fucked. Midas well either blow them up and return to base to finish the mission, or restart it all.

but If I don't get the ammo, how am I going to play the next mission?

Is there a way to make sure the trucks go unharmed while I am nuking the tanks?

You have to do a surgical type of attack. If you want to know how to make sure not to hurt the trucks, remember what was done that hurt them, then do somethind about it. Right? You never told us how they got damaged.

Usually the problem is letting Ai with heavy weapons attack the trucks.

Okay, wait for the trucks and all to reach the valley. FIRST THING TO DO!: is to blow up the BMP! Then destroy the T72. The trucks shouldn't be harmed by the BMP explosion Then the T72 keeps dirving away and destroying it ownt harm the trucks. Kill the infantry. Now after it's clear tell your guys to get the trucks. Grab a mine out of the trucks and set it. Then load up on AT. For the AI two non essential AI in the trucks will do. Tell them to start heading back to base.

Get back to the high ground and then destroy the eneym BMP/T72 coming in.

Are we sure you acutally have to keep the trucks intact to get the ammo from them for the next mission? The same thing happened to me and i finished the mission anyway, and i could swear i had the same equipment in the next mission that i did when i played the campaign the first time and did save the trucks. Can anyone confirm this?

Take everything off the trucks and put it on the truck from your base. Takes alot of time but you don't have to restart the mission.

A good tactic for this mission is to take the truck from your base and park it across the street.

So the enemy trucks will hopefully stop and you can take out the drives using PKs or AKs. Don't order your RPG guys to attack the trucks. I have found it very hard not to damage the trucks.

The scripting of the mission relating the tank attack after you finished the convoy seems also very error-prone. In my first attempt one of the trucks was able to escape. So I took the other truck and followed the fleeing truck. I was able to stop it on the coast road mabye 1000 m away from the original waypoint. I took out the truck and waited for the tanks, but they never showed up. But the soldiers which appear from, I think it was NE over the hill came, but no tanks.

I accidently destroyed the trucks the first time i played the campaign but just told everybody to take what they could carry off the dead and walk back to base. Second time round captured the trucks and if there is any difference i didn't notice it.

Remember, you can't put many troops in the ammo truck. 3 at most. Steal all the ammo you can, tell you guys to get into the truck you brought from your base, tell them to drive home, and take the ammo truck back yourself.

Order everyone to hold fire, order one RPG man to ATTACK T72 and one to ATTACK BMP while still holding fire. They will attack the tanks but after they are dead, cease firing, then tell everyone else to open fire

My stoopid damn RPG soldier kept blowing up the trucks...I had to order him to hold fire and take out the armoured vehicles myself...

Did you guys also waited for 25 minutes+ for the second Convoy to arrive? (the convoy Taz tells you about)

Is that normal? Or just a scripting error?

No I do not remember waiting, I think I was collecting weapons, and then I got surprized a bit. Anyway, I lost the trucks the first time, got em to disengage and hold fire, etc etc next time.

So does the health of the trucks really make a difference? I could have sworn i got no different ammo either way.

Hm, I think this is a big problem in OFPR. You don't know how many weapons or ammo you received from the last mission.

It is always some kind of mystery...

Someone in the forum mentioned a weapon screen after each mission, which tells you what weapons you collected, as improvement. That would definitly be a great improvement.

I am almost sure it does not matter where the trucks

meet the end of the mission. I never managed to drive them.

It's really quite simple. I got it right the first time 'round and haven't lost a soul throughout that mission.

When setting up an ambush place your men apart so that HEAT explosion won't take out anyone around the person getting shot. Set all men to watch the direction from which the convoy is coming, and set them to stealth position (prone). And yes, make sure you set them to hold fire.

Now just watch with the binoculars as the convoy approaches and order 2 of your RPG guys to target the T-72, you yourself will take out the BMP.

Once the convoy slows down to make that turn give the command to open fire. You'll hear your RPG guys fire off rockets at the T-72, taking it out right away. As soon as you hear them fire the RPGs, you fire yours at the BMP.

That's it. Use the same tactic when the russian reinforcements arrive.

I drove the trucks off unharmed and my men haven't gotten so much as a scratch on them.

if a car is dammaged, it can affect its performance(speed, turning). so if your truck got shot at, then sometimes you can't use that truck well.

in my case, I read the briefing, got pissed off that 10 minutes is all i got so i drove one truck to near curb. I took a RPG with me. got of, found a spot in hills and made a line formation, so that we al look at the curb.

first convoy was hit with RPG from my guy and mine to BMP at the rear. then all opened fire on soldiers. i went down with another soldier to bring truck, but when Taz talked about support, i freaked out, and quickly placed a mine on the road center some distance away from end of the first convoy.

went back to my ambush site, waited with all holds fire, and T72 drove right into AT mine...kaboom! and then BMP was killed by my RPG guy...then merry gathering from dead soldiers biggrin.gif
