KING5TON 10 Posted April 9, 2014 I don't have the same knee jerk reaction to this news. I don't see facebook login being required or that there will be ads inserted into games. If Facebook bought out the company that makes your monitor would you be worried about the same things? I suspect not. IMO Facebook will not do anything short term except making the produce better and bringing it to market quicker. Long term they will develop stuff that will complement the rift with none gaming VR applications some of which will have a social media bent. The sky isn't falling as far as I can see. I've got a DK2 on preorder.

I'll consider getting it after that.

Sneakson 1 Posted April 12, 2014 I would be extremely suspicious about Facebooks involvement. It would be 100% naive to believe that they bought this tech only so they can give the devs tons of money and bring it to the gamers market sooner. They intend to profit and I can imagine needing Facebook-logon.
dmarkwick 261 Posted April 14, 2014 IMO Facebook's involvement is exactly about investment. Facebook won't be Facebook forever (as in the most used social network) and I guess the company is looking to diversify & expand, as nearly all companies do.
