iNeo 0 Posted September 4, 2002 James Gastovski, I like his personality etc, he's ice cold.

Kamko 0 Posted September 5, 2002 LOL i said dont tell me Guba is your favourite, besides Gastovski can only seak in and out, while Troska can do that do, and much much more like commanding a platoon of tanks!

I had my whole squad alive at the end of Montignac Must Fall, and they were dead at the beginning of After Montignac. I even shot down the Hind at the end of Montignac Must Fall, but of course the Blackhawk's demise is scripted. Anyway, the Hind was alive at the beginning of After Montignac just the same and I had to shoot it down again.
EBass 0 Posted September 6, 2002 yeah I know but my point was in alone in the woods you start with all ur squad mates allready dead around you. In After Montingnac they die during the mission. Eiether on route to morton or "trying to cross the road" What happens if u kill all dudes in morton first and then follow them across road? they just fall over? Or run into woods and stop and hide so u (hopefully) dont find em and think they're dead
Kamko 0 Posted September 6, 2002 Even if you are able to save your squad, you will start next mission alone since it is scripted, besides this is not the topis of this forum
advocatexxx 0 Posted September 6, 2002 "This is number 2, she's ready to blow" "Keep her warm number 2, still waiting for 3, don't wanna go off half cocked" Priceless for so many reasons.

EBass 0 Posted September 6, 2002 Not for me, would you belive that was the first time I died in the campaign? I bloody hated spec ops back then
Jo Man Dragon 0 Posted September 7, 2002 oh yeah i loved that mission, quite easy and just great...
Jamesia 0 Posted September 7, 2002 I hated that mission. I am currently stuck on that mission while I am re-doing that campaign. The BEST mission in the whole of operation flashpoint is...... "Good morning men, any activity in the village last night?" etc. The first few seconds of the demo...... priceless.

I played it earlier today, it's so nostalgic...
EBass 0 Posted September 8, 2002 The demo mission is one of the best in the game and everyone played the demo 24/7 until the game. Assault seems to be so timeless. Couldent aim the bloody grenades though, I was so glad when I found they'd sorted that
advocatexxx 0 Posted September 8, 2002 I never played the demo FYI. I got the game from seeing a friend play. I originally played the campaign on Cadet, but now after replaying it in Veteran with SuperAI for the third time I realize that Bohemia never actually tested the campaign with the new Super AI. I remember them intensifying the SuperAI in 1.3 or 1.4 (not even sure which version), but tons of mission don't play out as they should. Most notably the mission where the officer gets ambushed in his Jeep and you go in the back of the M113 to rescue him. Well in SuperAI all of the comrades end up getting killed right after disembarking and you're left alone against 15 Russians. I did manage to kill them eventually (with the help of Shift - SAVEGAME) even though SuperAI seems to shoot the AK from 500 meters like a sniper, but the truck never came to pick me up. etc. etc. Regardless it's a lot more fun replaying it over and over. Have you guys ever tried putting your monitor brightness down to zero on night missions ? Man, it's so real. You can't see anything other than the pitch black silhouette of trees against the starfield. Too bad the AI sees enemies at night too well for realism. PHY_Hawkeye 0 Posted September 8, 2002 I have to say James Gastovski. The man is just so good at what he does, and I think he is one of the deepest characers in the game. Like Victor, you really feel like you know him. And lets face it, what's better than a special operations soldier who holds a gruge? "I got a bullet with Gubas' name on it." Damn he's good. EBass 0 Posted September 9, 2002 Whats more hes British. or so he sounds until he starts putting on Russian accents occasionally in Radio messages
cargo 0 Posted September 9, 2002 Viktor because he's the most real and has more than 1 emotion (and looks like a young Ed Harris!, though I quite like Lukin and Gastovski. Least favourite of all time.. Armstrong .. whining little maggot, stereotypical dumb rookie who gets to the top... don't you get tired of Horatio Alger stories?
EBass 0 Posted September 9, 2002 I wouldent call Lefteniant the top..... Its not like u start as a private and by the end of it you are the allied supreme commander in Europe
Kamko 0 Posted September 9, 2002 LOL guys aren't you going a little off the topic - STOP DISCUSSION AND THAT MELANCHOLY FEELINGS OVER DEMO, WE HAVE ORIGINAL AND FULL VERSION NOW! i agree with you_looking_at_me? that Victor has british accent in cutscenes, but a little of russian in radio messages, but that may be only the static or the radio itself
N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted September 11, 2002 My favourite is Colonel Eusev . Though he has only two lines in game, but he just sounds like a real russian Colonel to me. I use him quite often in my missions. Another favourite of mine is the Resistance leader in Cold War campaign. The demo, sooo many memories. I played the demo with my old PII350Mhz system so graphics were quite blurry, but it didn't matter. Ambush is also my all time favourite OFP mission .
