Arthanium 10 Posted December 5, 2013 So my computer is packing Intel Duo 2.4 Ghz, 2gb ram, and NviDia 9400m. It is quite above the minimum graphics, but when I used recommended graphics I got tremendous lag. Unplayable. I looked for tutorials online, set everything as low as possible. Including from the config file (like setting draw distance extremely small) and even resolution to 640x480. Yet I still got around 15 fps singleplayer with constant dropping. I feel like I'm scammed. fusion13 10 Posted December 5, 2013 Well lets not say you were scammed, What OS are you on? I take it windows 7? Because Windows 7 uses like 1.2 GB ram default.. so lets get technical you only have 800MB ram for the game. And I get lag on a AMD Fx-8350, 7950 3GB Vram, and 8GB 1600Mhz.. warlord554 2065 Posted December 6, 2013 I would say you probably need more ram. Have you tried custom startup command lines? heres a copy of mine "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\Arma2OA.exe" -cpuCount=8 -maxMem=8192 -high -maxvram=1024 exThreads=7 -noSplash -winxp -nologs -world=empty Now you will have to modify it to your comp specs, and the maxMem is high default around 2gb I think. But I can play at all very high settings with about 35fps constant under heavy mission load. That's on stock overclocks regarding CPU and GPU AMD FX 8120 x8 @3.1ghz 6870HD 1gb GPU 16gb Mem @1600mhz 1920x1080 View Distance around 2700
zulu1 141 Posted December 6, 2013 Is this a laptop with integrated graphics? The performance of the 9400M G is comparable to current entry level GPUs with dedicated graphics memory (like the GeForce 9300M GS).Therefore, the graphics adapater is able to display older games (like Doom3) in high details fluently and new (not too demanding games) in low details fluently. Based on this I'd say ARMA2 is way too demanding for what you are trying to run it on. I have an i5 3.2ghz and 16gb's (1600mhz) of ram with a GTX 650SC Ti /2gb gddr5 and that even lags a bit and I get video glitches, although I run most everything on high or very high. Arthanium 10 Posted December 6, 2013 I suppose the issue is my integrated card. But still, Bohemia should update their requirements, because right now they are too low for Arma to be played normally. + when I use gaming booster that closes non needed processes I have like 1,6 gb free memory. [frl]myke 14 Posted December 7, 2013 Dual Core CPU (Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz, Intel Core 2.0 GHz, AMD Athlon 3200+ or faster) 1 GB RAM GPU (Nvidia Geforce 7800 / ATI Radeon 1800 or faster) with Shader Model 3 and 256 MB VRAM Windows XP DVD (Dual Layer compatible), 10 GB free HDD space NviDia 9400m Let's see. A regular (desktop) variant of a GeForce 9400 has approximately 50% of the performance of the required GeForce 7800. Since it is a mobile variant, the performance is roughly equal to a desktop GeForce 9300 which is again about 25% slower than the (desktop) 9400. Please take note that the first digit (9400 / 7800) determines the generation of the GPU, not it's performance. The second digit describes it's place compared to performance. To make it worse, mobile variants often have lower specifications (core clock) than their desktop pendant. As example, the desktop variant of the 9400 clocks with 580MHz while the mobile (your) variant clocks with 450MHz. There are also other factors (memory bandwith, memory clock etc)which limit the performance but this is quite the most important. So even when your GPU is 2 generations newer than the one listed in minimum system requirements, due to it's low end specifications it is more than 50% weaker. So no (and i'm sorry to say this), your system does not have the minimum required specs. But still, Bohemia should update their requirements, because right now they are too low for Arma to be played normally. BI assumes that PC owner do have a little knowledge about their very own PC and it's components, especially regarding their performance.
