You can also run over small islands with it.<span id='postcolor'> 80 knots???  <!--emo&  Are you sure you didn't mean 80 kilometers per hour? 80 knots is 148 kilometers per hour, or 92 miles per hour...<span id='postcolor'> Oh, yes. As I said: water jet engine. You can read about an incident here in the military stupidity thread.<span id='postcolor'> I did a search using Google, and the sites I've found talk about a speed of 30 to just over 40 knots, depending on the model:  http://www.mil.se/marinen/10/15/15b1_se.html  http://www.soldf.com/strb90e.html  http://www.djurgardsvarvet.a.se/mili/battleboat/battleboat90.htm  http://www.navsim.org/navsim/vapengrener.htm 40 knots would be just under 80 kilometers per hour, which would make a lot more sense to me. The last link has a four-picture sequence of an emergency stop from 42 knots in a length of 25 meters. I don't want to argue about the top speed with you, but all indications are that you are mistaken about it.<span id='postcolor'> 30-40 knots are the values that the military gives out. It is common knowledge that they do over 80 knots. The real speed is classified. Emergency stop is not the same thing as crash stop. Emergency stop means that a steel (or titainum, I don't know) plate is set down at 45 degrees in front of the engine. A crash stop means that the plate is at 90 degrees angle. From top speed you can make a crash stop on a distance between one half and one boat lenght. Not that it is very healthy for the ones on the boat (hence the name - crash stop). Guest Posted August 27, 2002 I should also add that there is a difference between models. There are currently SB 90E, SB90H and SB90T. The SB90E is the oldest and slowest one. The SB90H is the largest one (22 men) and the SB90T is the fastest special-ops version with room for only 16 men.

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 27, 2002 But one problem is there with Israeli girls. If you are german and you meet them in a pub they constantly feel like they have to keep that german boy on the ground. But hey what do I go out for then. They got serious relaxation problems! (no, no generalisation at all Albert, they are all the same you know). And then I feel like my mom is watching me while I get drunk and then the athmosphere is ruined! Why do they do that! Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 28, 2002 Cause I dont need a wife I need a job. i am good with girls and have no problem to change them like socks but a job would be nice now. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 28, 2002 Dont get me wrong, I still got opportunities. Raffles/Singapore wants me. But the thing is that I dont really want to work in the operational field. I am sophisticated enough to work in other areas. I have to start at the bottom, I know that. But I want to work in a resort and there (due to 9/11) they have serious problems. Realy ugly story, and I dont want to bother you with it, but it is kind of tough for me!
skullfkr 0 Posted August 28, 2002 Well, the animations aren't the hard part, its down to boyancy, like the BMP landing on a beach, its a tank that can drive both on land and water for crying out loud, the game can obviously handle it. All we need is code that checks how much gear the soldier is carying, if he only has a few nades and a handgun, he wont sink, but if he has more than that the usual drowning will occur. I mean, navy seals swim miles and miles with all their gear in a waterproof sack. I would just like to be able to do water insertions, ala Metal Gear Solid and the like. A (silenced)handgun or knife would be all you'd need to procure another weapon on site
skullfkr 0 Posted August 28, 2002 sorry about the delay in posting again (the topic did go off on a tangent, didn't it..). Considering that this game takes place on islands it would be appropriate that there would be some sort of ability to swim for at least a select few troops, special units for each class (civilian, resistance, west, east). Every navy has had a form of frogmen since before ww1, and many other branches of special forces have training for water insertions even if they dont do them often. HellToupee 0 Posted August 28, 2002 well the resistance guys can float cause they got bags, if your've ever been tramping with a big bag u will know they float, guns and greandes don weigh much 1-2kgs, and the current sinking thing is really crap its just like walking on land u dont even slow down under water untill your legs r dammaged, and your guy cant hold his breath more than 10secs better swimming no mater what gear they got than that.
