Fred, thanks for the hard work! I followed all the steps and notice a +7-10 FPS gain in the mission "Sniper Alley". I measure by just being flown in and measuring FPS after chopper has left and looking in a specific direction. Awesome!

What I also can tell you is that arma3 currently uses 310MB RAM MAX according to task manager. Is this normal for your modified allocator? I would love some more detail. :)

Is there any chance in hell that your memory Allocator allocates a considerable larger amount of Ram when running on a dedicated server from the steamcmd then without any malloc used ?

e.g. assigning ~5 MB of Ram per every Player-Join and not giving it back once the player quits - hogging it till a new mission is started ?

Ok. So just to be clear, all I gotta do is run the LPManager.exe, with admin privileges, accordingly to the instructions provided on the repository and that's it? I can allocate 3GB using the -maxMem=3072 and malloc=tbbmalloc?

I wont need to install/copy new DLLs or tweak register?

BTW, thank you for all your work. Anything that makes my Arma3 runs smoother, is welcome and much appreciated

The memory value of '310MB RAM MAX' is probably the process working set (large pages are not part of the working set, because they are never swapped to disk).

No there is no way currently. I removed the 'nolog' binary, to safe me some of questions like '... this allocator does nothing for me ...'.

(at least there is perhaps a little chance, that users look in this log files, before they are deleting them all)

Wow! After reading everything I thought that I would use 3GB, not more. Even better.

Sorry if I'm sounding dumb or repetitive, but after reading your considerations, after running LPManager, all I need to do is place your tbbmalloc.dll (I'm assuming I have to place it with Arma's files, but I'll figure where later) on the correct folder, use -malloc=tbbmalloc as the first parameter, then -maxmem=8192 (I have 16GB installed) followed by the other ones I use and that's it, I'm good to go?

Kinda off-topic, is there something else to use more VRAM or 2GB is actually more then enough? I have a 3GB GPU installed.

on windows 2012 with 22 GB Ram assigned.

In a bit longer session I noticed that LP can succeed sometimes after fallback and SP but it quickly returns back to SP.

My command line is

Registry tweak and secpol settings have been done long time ago and I double checked them and also just in case run with the LPManager and restarted computer couple of times. Arma 3 is also run in admin. My system is in my signature.

@St. Jimmy, your fallbacks are very late and most memory is allocated as LP, so you have nearly the best performance.

But you could cleanup your system a bit, to delay fragmentation more.

Your logfile shows, that you fresh restarted your system and there are already a lot of open handles, running processes and threads.

This are most likely background applications or services, most of them not really necessary/usefull.

For compare, bellow is my system already up for 4 hours:

system handles : 8913

system processes : 37

system threads : 427

system uptime minutes : 253

Disabling some background apps (starting with 'windows search service') really makes a difference, try it out.

(hint: sysinternals 'autoruns', is a very good tool for such cleanup tasks)

Try without maxmem=3071 param and pay attention to the many script/mission errors in your .rpt log, there is something to repair (undefined variables).

I see people placing logs here, but they appear to be Linux, I'm assuming that. How do I do I know for fact that I am taking advantage of all this on the game. I see people placing logs here, but they appear to be Linux, I'm assuming that. How do I do I know for fact that I am taking advantage of all this on the game. there should be a logfile for each session in A3 root dir (malloc_xxxx.log).

Please post one of this logs here, so i can have a look into it.

I did'nt test this -enableHT option (no HT CPU).

Thank you for your reply. I tried and I got the message saying "The text that you have entered is too long (158721 characters). Please shorten it to 50000 characters long."

I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bits, 16GB 1600 with an Intel Core i7 CPU.

what means the privilege, required for large page mapping, is not set correctly.

Additional, i think your system could be cleared up a bit, by unloading some applications/services (see some hints, a few posts earlier).

Got it. But since I'm using Windows 8.1, and I had put my first and last name, I guess it messed with my username internally. But I'm almost sure it's using my first name only. Anyways, got it working. Thank you very much!

How does this memory page thing works? I read it on Wikipedia and I thought it was something different from that page file windows create, turns out it's the same thing, right?

It's just this method makes saving and retrieving data faster, putting it simple?

after all the time spent tweaking my settings for this game, i only just found this thread now...

so is this something that anyone can do ( with a good setup ) or is it mainly to be used on dedicated server?

I get rpt files in my arma root but they are also getting created on my desktop. anyway to stop that?

After couple of PC restarts it seems to work. Looks like Google Chrome takes a lot of resources when started beforehand and prevented largeadressaware to work properly. Then again, i'm no specialist for this, I'm just assuming.

Performance wise I did feel a slight performance increase on Altis with couple of mods activated on a dynamic mission. Will do some more testing though :)

@ChuWie,

nice to read you make progress with clearing your system.

'Windows search service' is such a black sheep too. Just stop and disable it, nobody really need such things (services.msc).

On my system, i have only ~40 processes running in background and i don't miss anything :)

Additional, i highly recommend to have a look for GMF tweak too, if you don't already use it.

I've tried to follow all the steps, but still getting "SeLockMemoryPrivilege: denied, huge pages disabled"

I've put the ddl in the correct folder, and I've set the "Lock Pages in memory" to "Jertzukka" which is both my ARMA 3 profile name and PC profile name. Don't know what I'm missing here.

the normal way to grant the 'SeLockMemoryPrivilege' is, using 'secpol.msc' and adding a user/group to this privilege. Did you try this already?

The easy way to grant this privilege, is via 'LPManager.exe', which will show you, if the privilege set operation was successfull ('Restart' in green letters means success).

In any case a system restart is required once!!!

Additional, consider the following:

If the user, which you use to run arma is member of the administrator-group, then you have to start arma via 'run as admin'!.

I've already added my profile to the list, and I've tried launching it as administrator without any success. i.imgur. com/n0k8Viy.png

Also when I use the LPManager while it being in the ARMA3 root folder, nothing happens when I hit "Privilege".

EDIT: Ok, I got it working. The solution was to launch steam as a administrator. I think it is because if you launch the arma3.exe from the folder it doesn't include the malloc=tbbmalloc parameter, and if you launch it through steam it doesn't launch as administrator unless steam is launched as administrator, if you get me.
