Wiki 1558 Posted September 8, 2013 Hi. Dunno whether it has already been reported or not, but the accuracy of the AH-99 is not good: the cannon and the rockets hit on the right side of the HUD aim cross. Can this be corrected please? Moreover, in the AH-99, even if I say to the gunner "no target", he still aim at the enemy with his cannon instead of keeping it right. Can this be corrected too? thanks
[frl]myke 15 Posted September 9, 2013 Moreover, in the AH-99, even if I say to the gunner "no target", he still aim at the enemy with his cannon instead of keeping it right. This, i assume, is intentional. "No target" doesn't mean "close your eyes" but more like "actually i do not care at what you look at". Remember, the turret is linked to the gunner optics so wherever he looks, the turret will follow and obviously a enemy should always be under surveillance. By assigning a target by yourself, you literaly tell your gunner "i know this dude is there but right now this target has higher priority for me". So ordering "no target" gives your gunner free hand at what he targets the gun.
verstand3n 13 Posted September 9, 2013 I believe the helicopter "aiming crosshair" ist only 100% accurate when the heli is 100% hovering and not moving in any direction. In any other case that movement will have an impact on the fired projectile. In BF3 there is a beam that visualizes that in your hud. So if you are moving with the heli you need to compensate that movement in your aiming.

In A2, when you fly in Apache for example, the rockets DO fire where you aim, not 2 meters away. With the Comanche, they fire too much on the right (and only on the right, never on the left). Hatchet_AS 201 Posted September 9, 2013 My initial impression when testing the AH-99 was that something was a bit off with the HUD alignment. That was when we first got the update, haven't tried it since. Was definitely hitting with an offset to the right, regardless of other things that might affect the trajectory. *edit* Perhaps worth noting I'm speaking from the perspective of empty vehicle, pilots seat and w/manual fire engaged. Have not tested from the gunner position. I would expect it not to matter.
JamesSaga 1 Posted September 10, 2013 Would like to add that when flying at any speed the AI gunner does not account for the speed of the heli and cant hit a barn door!

Wiki 1558 Posted September 10, 2013 Oh, I must be more precise: In A2, when I switch to "manual fire", then say "no target", the gunner will aim at nothing and the cannon will remain straight ahead. I've just done the test again, and it DOES happen like that. In A3, if I switch to "manual fire" and say "no target", the gunner WILL aim at targets anyway, and the cannon won't fire straight ahead, but to the direction of the enemy he is pointing at. Erm, that's the purpose of having a gunner. I would consider this a bug in A2 and now done right in A3.
KingScuba 1 Posted September 10, 2013 taking manual fire means you're taking over controls of the gunner as well.... hence manual control... The only thing I have beef with is the fact that the AH99 cannon ammo is not HE, instead acting like a rifle bullet. It's really only useful within 1200 meters, and that's extending it out quite a bit.

I really think they need a some kind of 'stow gun' command if they want to do that tho.
Wiki 1558 Posted September 10, 2013 Yeah, that's what I meant here.
max power 21 Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) In the case of the rah-66, the gun stowed into a fairing facing backwards. edit: At any rate, this is more of an AI behaviour thing that a problem with the helicopter. You should make a feedback ticket if you don't like the way the behaviour changed. Edited September 10, 2013 by Max Power
