haleks 8212 Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) A custom mission I was working on - I haven't been playing the vanilla missions for some time. I guess I'll launch the campaign tonight (vanilla settings, doh!) and see what happens. EDIT : Might be worth mentionning that the only way to fix it is to restart Arma3 - but, no matter what, it will occur again after some time. ---------- Post added at 19:30 ---------- Previous post was at 18:31 ---------- Just happened again during the "Radio Silence" mission without mods. I noticed it occured right after an explosion (arti strike), but I don't think it's related though : previously it also happened without any explosives in the mix. EDIT : I disabled Windows Process Priority management for Arma3 and let another software handle it (Process Lasso). It seems to improve things. Will keep testing. That didn't work... T_T At this point, I don't know what else to try. One weird thing : for me it started only recently - with the 1.24 update I think. I don't remember having to deal with that issue before that.
kklownboy 43 Posted July 21, 2014 You are using a page file? , and it maybe a Steam issue? I wouldn't think its a H/W issue on your part, but do you have any extra back ground apps running. Steam overlay, Friends on etc..? You could try Off line mode to remove the Steam part. You can also run with the Performance Monitor up, and see whats doing what. haleks 8212 Posted July 21, 2014 I'm not sure what is a page file... But I always run Steam in offline, and use Process Lasso as well as GameBooster - every unused programs are shut down when I play (including Explorer). Right now I'm going through this guide, hoping it will help... =( EDIT : I check Process Lasso and the Task Manager when I play, but I don't think it is caused by another app.
haleks 8212 Posted July 26, 2014 Damn... I tried every suggestion I could find online; to no avail. No matter the mode, no matter the environment, my FPS always drops after about 45 minutes. However, I found a couple of tricks that may, or may not, fix the problem without restarting Arma. It's not very consistant, sometimes the following procedures work like a charm, sometimes you have to repeat them... Whenever your framerate drops, you can try these : - Open Windows Task Manager and change the priority level for Arma3. You might notice increased CPU usage. - Kill or restart Windows Explorer. You might need to do that a couple times. - If you have Process Lasso or a similar software, change CPU affinity for Arma3. I really hope BIS is working on this, it's a huge a pain in the *ss - especially since that it is the only issue preventing me from enjoying Arma3...:(
Drumheller 19 Posted July 28, 2014 This problem was gone for me for a long time, but has recently re-reared it's head. After ~45 min I get a couple seconds of video lag, then my frames while turning drop to single-digits, but while not moving at all, are fine.

After ~45 min I get a couple seconds of video lag, then my frames while turning drop to single-digits, but while not moving at all, are fine. Exactly the same for me : it started since the 1.24 update, or maybe a bit sooner... Before that I could play Arma3 just fine - even on my old rig wich barely meets the minimum requirements (!). Sometimes, one of the methods I described above will improve things, but not for long... I couldn't find any entrie on the feedback tracker for that specific issue, might be worth creating one? Right now Arma3 is the most frustrating game for me (I have half a mind to switch back to Arma2)! :( EDIT : then my frames while turning drop to single-digits, but while not moving at all, are fine. Could it be related to mouse movements? I noticed that the pause menu is also laggy when hovering the cursor on it. Edited August 2, 2014 by Pepe Hal
haleks 8212 Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Just did a small test out of curiosity. The framerate drop also occurs if you just pause the game for 30/45 minutes.:j: I spawned in editor mode on Altis, paused the game, waited a good half an hour... I could already tell the FPS dropped when I moved my mouse over the pause menu. Something is very very wrong with Arma3. haleks 8212 Posted August 13, 2014 Still ocurring in release canditate 1.26... :( It's definitely an issue with RAM usage : setting process lasso to optimize RAM usage every 30 minutes greatly delays the slowdown.
haleks 8212 Posted August 24, 2014 Looks like it is fixed in the updated rc1.26! I just had a nearly 2 hours session without any drops - and a pretty good average framerate. I'm happy as fuck!

GDent 10 Posted August 26, 2014 Do you mean after switching to the dev branch it fixes the issue? So the problem is fixed for the next update? Too bad we have to wait a long time for that update to come out. Maybe there's a hotfix coming out.
haleks 8212 Posted August 26, 2014 Do you mean after switching to the dev branch it fixes the issue? Nope, I'm on stable 1.26. Are you sure you updated from 1.24?
GDent 10 Posted August 26, 2014 I don't know, this issue was happening yesterday night when I was hosting the game on my own machine.
haleks 8212 Posted August 26, 2014 Oh, well I don't know for MP, but for me, in a SP environment this issue is gone. Things might be more complicated/different in MP though - and, if I'm not wrong, the current stable release seems to have a lot of issues MP-wise. I was you, I'd wait for the next fix and see how it goes.
GDent 10 Posted August 26, 2014 I hope so. Singleplayer is 100000% worthless to me so I'd like to know if this is happening to people in multiplayer and not just me, and if there's a fix being staged in the dev branch. A few months ago I was playing just fine for 3+ hours.
GDent 10 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) Sorry for double-post, but can confirm, after today's hotfix I am STILL having the memory leak issue; after one and a half hours of playing my game slows to 3 FPS and I am FORCED to close the game via task manager. if anyone knows any kind of fix that would be EXTREMELY appreciated. this problem is INFURIATING. EDIT: Could one of my startup parameters have something to do with it? -cpucount=4 -exthreads=7 -maxmem=4096 -world=empty -nosplash -nointro -nopause -high -nobenchmark -nologs -nofilepatching Edited August 30, 2014 by GDent
