Panther Patrol 1.3

Single Player

Stratis (on Dev Branch)

By B00tsy

You are a Panther team that has been assigned to patrol the area of operation and to locate 5 Opfor camps.

The camp locations are unknown, but when you are close enough you will pick up an opfor radio signal that will help you pinpoint the exact location.

In the AO you will also encounter random opfor patrols including AT teams so be careful.

The mission is completed after you have located and captured all opfor camps.

Read task description for further details.

Extra features:

- Custom music

- Dynamic patrols.

Notes:

This mission has been made on the Dev Branch, you may need the Dev Branch enabled to play it. Custom music is not hearable inside the Panther unfortunately, only in 3th person view. The ending has not been tested yet, but it should all work as intended.

Tips:

- It is important that you completely destroy (explode) all the opfor vehicles on the camp sites (even when you have succesfully captured a camp), otherwise it might mess up a few triggers.

- The AI gunner in your team is quite trigger happy and uses up the ammo fast. If you can switch to the gunner seat to conserve ammo or/and let the gunner hold fire when he tries to fire at targets from to far away you will hold out longer.

- Even with manual firing you will probably run out of ammo before you captured all camp sites. There are fresh Panthers waiting for you at the NATO base. There are not any support trucks available in the beta yet unfortunately.

Update 1.3:

- You can now also finish the mission on the outpost

- Added a specialist team that will join your team (includes a repair specialist)

- Tweaked some triggers, opfor patrols, music and weather.

Good luck!

Armaholic mirror:

- Panther Patrol [bETA]

Steam:

- Version 1.3

COOP 4 version

edit - the download site you used is not cool. instead of a rar file it downloads an exe. i'm curious to play your mission but not to downloading an unknown exe to do so. have alternative dl links?

Bootsy, use Dropbox buddy or upload it to Steam workshop. There is no way I would download an .EXE especially when it says .rar in the link you have provided.

Yeah that was not the usual site where I upload, but the good site I always use was down yesterday. This mission is also available in the Steam workshop and on armaholic now. Guess I could have posted the workshop link in the first place, still need to get used to the workshop :)

Nice music.

Nice to play as an armor patrol as well. About time tank crew got their a$$ out of the vehicle and inspect a few buildings as well.

Found the vehicle well stocked as well.

Enjoying the mission!

Cheers Kommie :)

Wanted to add more music variety and more ambience music, but also wanted to keep the file size low, so it´s a compromise :>

It is thanks to the new site module that the opfor AI automatically occupies buildings now (which is a good thing!), used to be a nag to get and keep AI inside buildings..That thus also means you may have to get out of the comfy panther and have to kill the last opfor that is hiding in a building lol.

P.S,

Version 1.0 does not end properly. Version 1.2 works fine.

Lol yeah, I will definitely make more A2 missions. Recently updated the ´Morning WipeOut´mission for A2! Though, can´t wait for Altis and all the new content in A3 :)

Wouldn't it be better to swap the sides as OPFOR's IFV is far more fun due to its weapons?

You will be encountering opfor APC patrols, which is fun too! I created the mission to feature the Panther, that it is limited makes it more fun and challenging imo. I already had to drive for my teams life a couple of times because I got hunted/chased by a couple of APC´s and AT patrols. I actually had to hide behind a building one time before I could make a run/drive for the NATO outpost :)

Hi Boosty,

Starting this mission over again.

This time, I'm going to take advantage of the ammo and weapons crates you provided at base.

I was wondering, if you are considering a future update, could you throw in some backpacks?

Or maybe on crew member is an engineer?

I know nothing about armor crew men, but I am assuming at least one of them would know how to do some minor engine work/repairs.

The crates have repair items and that Panther may need some assistance.

Better yet, with your mission making skills, you could have a Radio like 0-0-1, that when the Panther is in a shape of reasonable repairing, a chopper containing an engineer could be called to fly in, repair Panther, fly back to base............

Most likely would need a script that could deduce the condition of the Panther. Anything that is beyond repairing is a "No Go".

Just some ideas to throw at you.:D

Yeah, the mission is a bit quick thrown together, you noticed :) I made the mission actually as an excuse to try out the workshop and to warm myself up for the Altis map.

Seeing that people like the mission setup I will work a bit more on it. I could add some service points on the bases where vehicles can get repaired or as you suggested add a proper crew with limited repair skills, + maybe a few more men, as there are passenger seats in the Panther. I´ll see what I can come up with :)

So I search SWS for your mission and find nothing... yet there it is.

The workshop seems to be messed up at the moment. There are only 3 pages visible in the workshop, yesterday there were 15+ pages.

Alrighty, I have just uploaded an update.

My plan was to add service points to the main base and the outpost where you can repair/refuel/rearm, but unfortunately I have issues getting the rearming of the Panther to work (repair/fuel works fine), the biki only vehicle (SetAmmo) example does not work and other script variants are not working either, so yeah.

So instead I have a added a specialist team that includes a repair specialist that can repair the Panther if needed. You now thus also have a few extra men to clear out buildings and still keep the Panther manned. You do still need to drive back to base/outpost for a new panther with full ammo, till I find out how the hell the rearming works with script code (I asked on the forum, but no response).

You can find the DL link on the OP, or just go to the workshop, or it auto-updates if you already have downloaded the mission.
