Possibility of Single Engine Prop Planes As An Introduction?

Recommended Posts

I was curious if anyone else thought it would be neat to see an early introduction of planes on Stratis.

I know they will introduce jets at some point (I'm guessing they'll bring them in on the next map).

But For now I thought it would a good idea to see some military prop planes as an opportunity to get acquainted with Arma 3 flying, and possibly a new showcase.

I know Cessna made some little single engine prop planes for the military, maybe even some seaplanes that we can take off and land from the water?

I would love to see the Super Tucano in arma 3. A modern turbo-prob aircraft for COIN, CAS and reconnaissance. In armaverse it could also be used for training, EW or flying FAC.

Another picture

It would be a nice contrast to the sci-fi-vibe of arma 3, but would still fit from a realism point of view.

However i think there are more pressing issues for the devs to care about at the moment. It would be nice though, to get at least one aircraft before release to test the new flight-model for planes (if there is a new flight model).

And btw. i think you better could have posted this in the wishlist or wishlist-discussion thread.

Would be nice the see a single jet\plane (L-159?) just to get some feedback on its handling, like all other vehicles that had major changes between implementation and post patches.

Right, first time on the forums, wasn't quite sure where people post what. So I just opt for "General Beta".

I'll go re-read the rules real quick, and thank you.

Actually would be nice, and maybe have a trainer aircraft that can have dual controls perhaps like some of the heli's do, for training purposes instead of using a chase aircraft?

Maybe also use it as a light cas plane too. (T50, Hawk, Super Tucano etc etc )

Would be nice if only for just getting the aircraft control config in game and allowing modellers to use it.

Note that right now I'm not sure if Arma 3 actually models "single engine" any differently from multi-engine as far as helicopters go, much less fixed-wing aircraft. Has anyone been able to check out just how the devs implemented the dual-controls functionality in the Arma 3 helos, or was that available in Arma 2 as well? I'm asking since I understand that manual fire (weapons to pilot, instead of flight control to co-pilot or gunner) was already available for Arma 2 vehicle modders.

As I alluded to above, Gnat's Cessna 185 Skywagon already has an armed version (for OPFOR) with twelve (12) unguided rockets in underwing rocket pods, fired in pairs so essentially six (6) shots. My point is, with that mod fixed-wing light CAS is already here.

I am sure you can agree we need a working aircraft control scheme in at a minimum though, currently I have to use a botched Xpadder scheme to fly Gnats Skywagon.
