ETang 10 Posted July 26, 2013 I got a mission that i obtained from joining a server. The copyright says i have permission to use it as long as i credit the original authors. I extracted the files into a folder on my desktop then opened the sqm files with notepad++ and edited everything i needed to and saved it. I moved all the files back to the pbo file and tested it out. I can't launch the file and it crashes my game when i try to launch it. How do i edit the mission files like these? I need this solution ASAP. Thanks in advance for your replies
PlacidPaul 11 Posted July 26, 2013 Something wrong in the description results in a crash to desktop. That could be it?
ETang 10 Posted July 26, 2013 Something wrong in the description results in a crash to desktop. That could be it? Anything i edit and save, it will give me the error "Mission file too short". how do i change it? what do i need to change? The mission is obtained by joining another server. When i moved the files, it gave a message of "This will remove the digital signatures" of the files. Could this be it?
orcinus 121 Posted July 26, 2013 Did you debug by opening the mission in the Editor before converting back to a pbo? It is an essential step in any mission design/porting/modificaation work.
sudslv 10 Posted July 26, 2013 few days ago i had the same problem. so what i did was: 1. open your arma 2 as administrator. 2. go to C:\Users\name\Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles\name\missions\mission.map\mission.sqm 3. open it with notepad 4. edit what you want without syntax errors. 5. press on the X and when it asks for saving click yes (no idea but when i used ctrl+s it didnt work out) 6. open the mission with your arma 2 editor and export it to multiplayer/singeplayer. 7. done (dont touch .pbo)

ETang 10 Posted July 26, 2013 The mission is found in .../saved/mpmissions When I open it, the folder is empty.
sudslv 10 Posted July 27, 2013 saved/mpmissions? what are you trying to do again?
Gunter Severloh 4070 Posted July 28, 2013 opened the sqm files with notepad++ and edited everything i needed to and saved it. Unless you know what your doing, your safest bet is through editing the mission through the editor itself, as it will add all the necessary coding to the sqm based on what you added.
