Dr.Pulp 0 Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Hi Folx, i recently got a new GFX Card (GTX760) and tried to find out the sweetspot in GFX settings. Ingame i set everything to low or off and tried to raise settings to see what works, and what not. Then i found something strange: i got some settings up to ultra with 60 FPS....then i set Object detail to ultra and got 30fps. that was strange...pretty big hit i thought...reverting to low to keep on fiddeling....BUT...the FPS stayed at 30 FPS. The only thing that worked was using the low preset again...60 FPS. This time i startet with object detail...working my way throug the settings. After a lot of ultra settings something put my FPS to 42...i reverted and no problem going up to 60 FPS again. but once i hit a setting that will get me to 30 FPS...its basically game over with changing settings...they won't do shit to my FPS. i got to use some preset again to get out of that 30FPS jail. I am using the DEV version. Anybody else got this? I rember in Arma 2 BI introduced the -FLUSH function to force a reload of the GFX. Did they put some Bug back in? Maybe somebody else noticed it...or even better if its not me...BI can have a look at this issue. Edited July 22, 2013 by Dr.Pulp
byku 13 Posted July 22, 2013 Check v-sync in options. Turn it off if it's on... if that isn't it, then i have no idea :P(for now)
rundll.exe 12 Posted July 22, 2013 Yeah, sounds like a Vsync issue, and the FPS may become 59 when reverting your settings, so you won't see it get to 60 (and you'll see 30)
Vioxtar 10 Posted July 22, 2013 I know what you're talking about. I figured turning the game to Windowed mode and then setting it back to fullscreen resolves the 30 FPS issue. It's odd.
Dr.Pulp 0 Posted July 23, 2013 That was it...with vsync disabled you can tweak your settings nice and smooth now and it won't get stuck on 30FPS. Thx a lot. Strange anyways that it gets stuck to 30 FPS in the first place with vsync on.

ZoneTrooper 10 Posted July 23, 2013 The only thing that have effect on your FPS is the Overall and Object Visibility.Depending what kind of CPU you have, you will always have 30 FPS on pre set ULTRA settings, because he is increasing the visibility to a very high lvl. I suspect even with a NASA super computer you could not run it on Ultra with visibility on 12000 and also overall on maximum. So far i have a Core I7-860 3200MHz 8GB Ram GTX 680 4GB and i can run it on ULTRA just everything on ultra, everything is maxed out and cant be raised anymore, except visibiliy and overall.Visibility is on 4000 and overall on 2200,in Singleplayer you will get pretty good FPS with these settings, but in Mulitplayer you have to change them with the Playermenu that you can enter with the mouse wheel. Also it doesnt matter wich setting you choose manuel Low,Medium,High,Ultra doesnt matter, the FPS are still the same, you only notice FPS drops because if you choose them on the presets of ARMA 3 he will increase the Visibility on Medium,High,Ultra higher and higher thats the reason why you get FPS drops if you change them with the pre sets, but when changing them manuel with adjusting the visibility manuel, you should get normal FPS. fabio_chavez 103 Posted July 24, 2013 arma gfx setup remains to be mysterious, i would suggest also not to believe everything people say or think...often its bullshit they came up with themself and its nothing but wild guesses, many gfx settings are either cpu or gpu heavy, and switching from high to low is shifting the way the game assigns the rendering either to gpu or cpu. This is how shadows on low results in lower fps than on ultra, because on low all the work is done by cpu and cpu is bottleneck for most people... viewdistand and object detail seem to have the biggest impact, on any sysrem.
