slyrnz 0 Posted August 1, 2002 The first time I got OFP (when it was released), I installed it on my machine and began playing it with great enthusiasm. The first few minutes were sweet coz I had to do bugger all. But as soon as the action started, I lasted no more than 2 minutes. I tried several times and got really frustrated coz the AI were really well camoflaged and bloody good. I returned the game and got my money back. A few months later, I bought the game again and this time stuck with it. Its definetly worth every cent I spent. Often Im lying in the forrest almost shitting myself wondering where the next batch of baddies are gonna come from. I am still kicking myself for not sticking with it earlier. Placebo 29 Posted August 2, 2002 Hmm well this doesn't really belong in here, I'll move it to General
FSPilot 0 Posted August 2, 2002 the AI have special features, as in they can see through trees and all that. its a bug that needs to be fixed asap.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted August 2, 2002 Its good to hear you have returned to the fold. The reason that the AI is so difficult is because when you fight a war, you arent facing idiots, you are facing trained soldiers fighting for their lives, just like you are. The OFP AI isnt hard, other AIs are just really really easy
cybrid 0 Posted August 3, 2002 What store let you return a game after you already played it? Around where I live, you can't return one if you break the seal, unless the cd is damaged.

It's hard not to laugh at the people who complain about having to walk or drive too far for a few minutes just to get to an objective. In real life you would be moving for hours on end before you even saw the enemy. I'm glad you decided to stick with OFP. Honestly, the only other way to get an 'army-like' experience is to actually go and join the army..... OFP rocks. Tyler
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 3, 2002 welcome back to OFP...once you go OFP, you can never go back yeah, OFP is way realistic than anyother games on market, and I was frustrated too. during Steal the Car, I would get killed so fast. but now, a day without at least 30minutes of OFP seems like a wierd day. and good too see you back, Assault (CAN)
Kermit 0 Posted August 3, 2002 It's like a drug, isn't it?
black_ice 1 Posted August 3, 2002 Its not that suprising that OFP is so addictive though is it? It is the most versatile game I have played. What game gives you access to helicopters, Tanks, infantry cars etc etc at the same time? Doubled up by 3 large, beautiful islands, + a desert island for mucking around on? Then you've got the option of making your own missions, giving you u unlimited hours of gameplay. What game has a community as large as this one (maybe a few), but nothing is the same. This is the best game ever made, and I reckon it will stay like that until OFP2 is out
moerty 0 Posted August 3, 2002 i stopped playing the OFP campaign after the first mission where you command a tank. the thing that really keeps me hooked is the Multi-Player aspect, even though it's gimped to hell it still offers one of the most gut-wrenching heart-bending moments available in online gameplay. it takes a bit of patience and observance of human patterns but once you get into the rythm most other games begin seem so... inadequate. I have tried Novalogic's new Blackhawk Down Beta, Americas Army, and even some CS, since I strted playing OFP MP. And noe of them seem even half as enjoyable. Even when it's almost deathmatch in execution, OFP is superior to most games in multiplayer. I need to try Resistance multiplayer on Nogova now...but work has been hell so I havent had much time. I've played through all the campaign missions in both the original and Red Hammer, and they are great. And I am really enjoying resistance now, so maybe you should go back and play them again. Hidden 0 Posted August 4, 2002 The improved terrain engine in Resistance seems to be a minor problem for the AI, like when tanks kill me by shooting over a hill from about 1,5km away even though the could not possible see me at all as I was running hidden behind the hill all the time. I have seen soldiers killing me the same way too. But the new terrain is so good, I would never say no thanks anyway. I truly love it, reminds me a lot more about real nature compared to the good old OFP islands. And even though I really get to hate some mission a lot, I always come back for more..  can´t help it  I got tired of the rest of my games easily and sold them, but with OFP, that was never an option. It is too good, and with Resistance it will keep that kind of quality for another year or two.

They have a no questions asked return policy..pretty damn cool. I often buy games which have been majorly hyped up but are totally crap. Its quite good that I can return them after a week. GreyKnight 0 Posted August 5, 2002 Yeah, EB (Electronics Boutique, aka GAME) do that in the UK too. It's a 10 day return policy here though. It is major useful when you buy games that you later wish you hadn't! On the note of OFP even if I'm not in the mood for a fight I'll quite often fire up the mission editor and jump in a Chinook and fly around admiring the scenery. Ooooh, look at that lovely castle...aaaaaargh a mountain!!!!

If you do not agree, the license says that you must return the program to the vendor. Isn't that the shop you bought it from? Anyway, you need to open the package to read the license, so a shop shouldn't have that kind of policy.
