Under Water Guns and Helicopters

Recommended Posts

Well just bought the Beta last night, and I've played the showcases, must say, not bad definitely improved over Arma II. But a couple of things I found puzzled me a bit. Firstly, with the underwater guns. I sabotaged the boat and two enemy divers plunged into the water, so naturally, i shot them (close range <10m). All 30 rounds into one guy, reload, keep shooting. Still not dead? whats up with that??

And the other thing was flying the helicopter in the showcase. Now I'm not sure if I'm just a horrible pilot or what, but it seems that the helicopter cannot hover, pitch down slightly, shoot, then recover. I pitch down and the helicopter just plunges like a rock at 250km/h. And once you manage to get it flying straight it's impossible to turn, i cant use the pedals or cyclic left or right to change direction, they're plain unresponsive.

Apologies if this is normal, I haven't played ARMA properly before, only some DAYZ.

As for the underwater gun (yes it sucks), did either of you hide behind that big armored vehicle by any chance? You can't shoot through the undercarriage and such even though you have clear sight.

Were you sure that you were using the "Dual Purpose" mag and not the "STANAG" mag? Unfortunately the "dual purpose" part is a lie because it's near-useless above water.

Nope, I was underwater shooting at the two divers with the underwater bullets. Above ground I couldn't hit anything with the dual purpose clip either. And what's with the graphics btw? They looked so much better in the previews, I run high/very high and it only seems marginally better then ARMA II. Oh, and when i turn on Anti Aliasing I get white dots all over my screen around the edges of objects..

On the other hand your computer isn't sounding like it's dying due to the horrible hardware optimization.

I'm surprised what it handles actually, thought I'd be playing on medium/low because of my system:

i7 2600K

8GB 1600Mhz RAM

1x Nvidia GTX 570

Game stored on Patiot Pyro SSD

3570k

8GB 1600Mhz CL8 RAM

AMD MSI 7870 2GB

Old school harddisk

I'm running most of the settings on standard, except for blurs, blooms (and other post processing effects), all filters at 4X (FXAA I believe?) and textures on Ultra. I'm getting a comfortable 40-60FPS at all times (except if I'm neck deep in a smoke grenade rave)

Oh-Boy-here-we-go-again.jpg

Dual Porpose it´s fine for underwater combat, about the helicopter try to use the pedals at low speed

I must be crazy but I noticed this too. Even with everything maxed it doesn't look as good as some of the early screen shots. Did BI run into issues with the graphics or something?

I have the same HW, but playing on Ultra with few downgraded options. 1440p.

Like usual, SSAO and AA main fps-killer for gpu side.

But, of course, i need to update it as soon as possible.

GTX TITAN

So, This GPU allows you to use something, what others haven't? Arma3 looks nice. And this image have PP for nice-looking in static.
