zakelias 1 Posted January 29, 2013 Over the last month I reinstalled ArmA2 to play DayZ again since the amount of hackers died down since last August. A week ago, I tried to get onto a server and the game is giving me this error, "Bad CD Key - Invalid CD Key" I have talked to Bohemia through support with my email, and they have already walked me through doing a clean install. Nothing has worked, so I was told to come onto the forums for possible help. Is there anything that anybody can do to help me out, or am I screwed? I have been reading about programs that claim to give you hacks, or improve performance but they just steal your CD key. I haven't used nor do I condone the use of any kind of external program such as that.
tonygrunt 10 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Open regedit as admin and find your registry key containing the ArmA 2 OA serial. It's at "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA]" for W7 x64. Name KEY, type REG_BINARY and 15 bytes of data. Does it look ok or is it all 0 or something else? Export if you want and delete it, then run steam as admin and verify game cache. It should recreate it. Is it the same as before? Does the game run now? Now for your rant. Help here is mostly provided by others members, so don't expect to get realtime help or even be provided with the solution. As you most probably joined today, I don't see why you already are annoyed with us for not helping you. zakelias 1 Posted January 29, 2013 I am annoyed that I have had such a problem with this game, and the company themselves are just leading me into a circle with information that I have tried about 8 times. I knew that I wouldn't get any help with Steam since last year I had a problem with Skyrim, and I was lead into a circle between Bethesda and Steam until I found out what was wrong myself and fixed it. I have reinstalled ArmA 2 CO about 8 times over the last week, and it has caused me a great headache but the developer themselves don't want to help. Instead, they give me information that hasn't worked for me and keeps going in a circle with it. At least I got a response from somebody that at least had something to say that could help. This worked, and I am able to connect to servers. Thank you very much Tonygrunt for your help, it was a big improvement from where I have gotten with Steam and Bohemia. Did you go through the official support system by sending an Email to [email protected]? I have worked on the support desk with the guys and know they go above and beyond to try to help everyone out and certainly have never seen a single instance where a legal customer was told or implied to that "the developer themselves don't want to help". HunteRNz 1 Posted March 15, 2013 When I go into registry editor and try to delete / export the key it would just say "unable to delete all specified values" also when I export the file it just copies itself. Please Help
