How do I line up models perfectly?

Recommended Posts

So I've been doing models for a good while now but could never figure out how do line up models perfectly so from the right angle, it looks like a single thin line and not a bold thick line or zoomed in, like they're all over the place and not lined up at all.

This is better described as for when I copy/paste a model and drag it sideways and it goes out of line on the X axis etc.

I have to be missing something simple.

Are you using oxygen only?

I guess, ideally you would want to build something where you want it to end up as much as possible.

I guess you can get the worldspace xyz position of a vertex, and then get the xyz position of a vertex you want to be at the exact same location, and then subtract and get the distance you have to translate to get one on top of the other. Then you would select the whole subobject you want to translate and input those values into the transform dialogue.

In the O2 menu, go to Points -> Transform 3D -> Move. You cant get more precise results. ;)

And thus you can apply the move to all lods.

Press "P" (Flatten Points), select Front, Top or Left or, more importantly, Current View Plane (use the 3D View)

Best it gets.

Anyone know if the "Approximate Plane" feature works or is permanently ghosted ?

Knew it was something simple :p I pressed X or Y or Z and it gave me the same results depending on which way I was moving it. Now my models will be a lot neater :D
