Correct install procedure for A2 and OA?

A friend of mine is returning to the fold after many months and was wondering what's the quickest and simplest method to update Arma2 and OA to the latest version of COO.

Can someone confirm that this is the best procedure?

1. Install A2
   
2. Update A2 using the 1.10 patch
   
3. Install OA
   
4. Update OA using the 1.60 patch
   
5. Update OA using the 1.62 patch
   
6. Go cutting edge with the latest beta
   
7. Run A2 once
   
8. Run OA and it should detect A2 to merge into CO?

run A2 after you install it, then again when you patch it. Same for OA. I run after every patch. I use DVDs. If you install A2 first, OA will install into A2.

I have Polish dvd versions of A2 and OA.

1. Install A2(v1.02) and run the game.

2. Install OA(v1.52 this patch also update A2 to v1.05) and run the OA.

3. Install patch v1.60 this patch update alsa A2 to v1.09.

4. Install patch v1.62, this patch update A2 to v1.11.

6. Enjoy CO with the latest patch

Does anybody know whether the pre-installation of OA makes it impossible to later install Arma2 and update it ?

If've had huge problems to install Arma2 on Win8, gave up and installed and updated OA.

Now I finally managed to install Arma2. But I am not able to update it, because it says: Your OA/Arma2 is already updated. No update needed.
