konyo 14 Posted October 21, 2012 When my helicopter gets damaged the black engine smoke comes out the center of the model rarther than the engines? What is the name of the memory point to correct this? Regards,
[aps]gnat 28 Posted October 22, 2012 Don't think you can redirect that one. No memory point to my knowledge. ..... happy to be proven wrong by someone ......

max power 21 Posted October 24, 2012 I don't think that is known, and it's difficult to tell. Undefined memory points usually default to the model's origin, I think, so if worse comes to worst... Have you all of your engine hitpoints configured? This is the only other alternative I can think of.

This is the only other alternative I can think of. Yes, I've got the engine hitpoints defined but because the engine's are at front & back (Chinook). They share the same selection name. So I'm guessing the game is puting the smoke point between the two engines which share the points. If you understand what I'm saying? Would it work if I defined the back engine as the rear rotor in the hitpoints instead? Hmmm..
[aps]gnat 28 Posted October 24, 2012 So I'm guessing the game is puting the smoke point between the two engines which share the points. Pretty sure thats a no, its not. Would it work if I defined the back engine as the rear rotor in the hitpoints instead? Hmmm.. Again, no. Very unlikely that will not work. I've never seen smoke come from anywhere except the "center" of the model. You can likely influence the "center" by placing un-named memory points in the MEMORY LOD in odd locations. e.g. placing a memory point 6 meters in front of the chopper will likely move the "centre" 3 meters forward. BUT, this will also very likely effect the "Flight Dynamic" centre of the aircraft. Likely to produce unwanted effects.

I'ts just an error ill have to live with then :(
Sealife 22 Posted October 24, 2012 IIRC it was doplovani or something in years past , however these days I think most is scripted so try Destruction / damage scripts in ca_air or even data , it maybe that its simple [0,0,0] or maybe it is attached to a specific point . Also look in allinone cfg for Particle array for the Helo smoke and look for the Position define in the drop code.
dm 9 Posted October 24, 2012 because the engine's are at front & back (Chinook). There's no engines at the front of a Chinook.... FPDR A gearbox maybe, but no engines. As gnat says, scripted or custom-configured smoke can be created. Its a fair bit of work tho...
