bluedrake42 10 Posted October 15, 2012 Been trying really hard to play ArmA CWA (1.99) with my friend. I've tried setting up a dedicated server, but it only shows up on LAN (directions online are really confusing) I've tried hosting a server online by hitting "New" but connecting remotely via IP is coming up blank The only thing I have left is to use Hamachi, but I hate Hamachi and would like to find another way The manual just says I can hit "New" and he can connect via IP but I launched another instance of the game and not even I can connect via IP So I don't understand what I'm doing wrong... Would be nice if there was just a dedicated server launcher or tool I could use Or maybe I could just talk to someone who's already done it on TS3 Let me Know: www.youtube.com/bluedrake42 Bluedrake42@gmail.com steamcommunity.com/id/Bluedrake42 www.facebook.com/bluedrake42
Tom_48_97 523 Posted October 15, 2012 About your dedicated server, have you make a port forwarding with you modem/router/box? Have you take a look at this: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Operation_Flashpoint:Dedicated_Server ?
bluedrake42 10 Posted October 15, 2012 Yes I've forwarded ports 2302-2303 And yeah I looked at that tutorial and any others I could get my hands on I don't understand where this ---> "OFPR_Server.exe -config=server.cfg -netlog -nomap -port=2302 -mod=hisky" goes Do you make a shortcut and add that at the end of the launch line? It seems that the "Server.cfg" file is only used to configure the server, not make it available online (but I could be wrong) Also I've clicked the "ColdWarCrisis_Server.exe" executable in my ColdWarCrisis folder And I see the server window come up and say "Server Identity Created" But unfortunately for some reason it still only shows up on my LAN server lists, not online

Yes, the Target field (assuming that's what it translates to, I don't have an English version of Windows).
Tom_48_97 523 Posted October 15, 2012 I confirm, "target" with an English version of windows.
bluedrake42 10 Posted October 15, 2012 Okay that's what I thought, I'll try a few more times and get back to you ---------- Post added at 03:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:39 PM ---------- Yeah no luck, made a shortcut, added the launch parameters, still only shows up on LAN network Keep in mind I'm using Arma Cold War Assault here (v1.99) so I don't know how big an impact that has
ww2weasel 10 Posted November 3, 2012 oh - if you have windows 7 I found that if you set the ipaddress to 0.0.0.0 - you are able to get beyond this issue. I think Windows 7 looks for the address there and treats as the only gospel possibility.
