SuperBeast 0 Posted June 23, 2002 Ok I was wondering if OPF has a problem with WinXP? I've had this game since launch and decided to load it up again to see what changes have been made. What happens is when I start the game up everything looks like its overlapping. I've had this problem with another game in my collection too......My monitor is VERY old (6yrs) and only has a refresh rate of 60hz. I thought that was the problem with my other game I mentioned since it was running at 75 Ok anyways I know my monitor can handle OpFlash because I've played it before, just not with XP. Any ideas of what the problem could be? Yes I have all the drivers up to date and all XP patches downloaded. Thanks for any help
SuperBeast 0 Posted June 23, 2002 Heh sorry.... Well since it will probably get asked ...I'll go ahead and post my specs Asus A7A266 MB 1.2Ghz T-Bird 1GB DDR GeForce4 Ti4400 WinXP ---------- Not too good I know but my last system was a lousy 500mhz Celeron with GeForce 2 MX, and it ran OPF fine. Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted June 23, 2002 No worries mate, thats what us mods are here for As for your problem, have you played around with the LOD sliders at all? I just remembered an old post, someone had a similar problem, and playin around with the LOD sliders helped. You will find the LOD sliders in START -> Programs -> Codemasters =>Operation Flashpoint -> OFP Preferences Have a look

Placebo 29 Posted June 23, 2002 iiyama make superb budget monitors, I have their 19" Vision Master 1451 and I couldn't be happier with it
SuperBeast 0 Posted June 23, 2002 Ok tried messing with LOD without any effect Yes I do need a new monitor, but what I was needing to know is why the game would fine with my old system and not with this one? I suppose I could always go out and buy a cheap $150 19" Monitor but I'm saving up for ALOT better one with my new system I'm building so I really don't want to waste it. Placebo 29 Posted June 24, 2002 Why do you need a new system? Other than your monitor you have a pretty fine system as it is

I'm looking for a new monitor (19"+), but I'd like a high refresh rate (1280x1024@100Hz or something like that).
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 24, 2002 The problem is not with Windows XP, OFP, or the LOD. The symptom you describe is typical of using a refresh rate that is too high or improper display geometry settings. Try lowering the refresh rate, or adjusting the horizontal position of the image using whatever controls are available on the monitor.

If so how...because its not in the preferences..... If your talking about lowering it for Windows itself, 60hz is the lowest it goes. I would think I would need to raise it instead of lower though wouldnt I? Is it because I'm using XP now instead of 98 that the refresh rate on the game won't work on my monitor anymore? Thanks

Mister Frag 0 Posted June 25, 2002 Windows should by default only list refresh rates that are supported by both your video card and monitor. Those refresh rates can be enumerated by OFP through DirectX, and are selectable in the Video Options dialog. Anyway, I think you should keep your vertical refresh rate, and play with the horizontal positioning of the image using the monitor controls.

As far as monitor controls go, the only thing I can do with my monitor is adjust the size and move the screen around a bit. I just can't figure out why it would work on my older system and not this one now.....
