timmy 0 Posted June 19, 2002 you should email codemasters and ask them for an early version. You deserve it. But why do we need to back up the config.cpp file.

Guest Posted June 20, 2002 For everyone that has been using an excessive amount of addons, I would suggest a clean slate install before upgrading to resistance.

Specially sensitive are the sound addons that directly replace the original config.cpp. Other addons may however be incompatible with the 1.60 engine and make the game unstable if used. walker 0 Posted June 20, 2002 What about the editor addon? Will that cause you to have to do a complete reinstall of OFP?
munger 25 Posted June 20, 2002 No, you can remove the editor addon from the Addons folder and it will be fine. Possibly a good idea to do so before installing Resistance anyway.

If missions that depend on the Editor Update stop working, then you simply will not be able to play those missions.
eyes 0 Posted June 23, 2002 I take it the recommended install will be uninstall ofp >> install ofp >> install gold upgrade >> install resistance
Hit_Sqd_Maximus 0 Posted June 23, 2002 so..... uninstall ofp, reinstall, install 1.30, then resistance? what about 1.46? I think it was 1.45 that had probs upgrading from 1.42 or something so 1.46 came out.

So, tell us, does the install program do any CRC checking against the bin/config.cpp file? Are you asking your question because, in fact, config.cpp will simply be overwritten with no install errors or a warning at the most?

Are you asking your question because, in fact, config.cpp will simply be overwritten with no install errors or a warning at the most?<span id='postcolor'> The question already contains several errors: 1) there is no CRC entry about bin/config.cpp, this file is not present in OFP default installation (OFP original installation contains bin/config.bin). 2) Resistance config files will not be located in bin, but in Res/Bin. Your original OFP installation will remain almost intact after installing Resistance and you will be able to launch both "old" OFP (1.46 or whatev er version you have) or OFP:R (the file structure will be similiar to MP Test). As a result I assume there will be minimal conflicts between Resistance upgrade and any OFP installation you may have. Specifically there are no CRC tests of existing files. Maybe the whole topic should be canceled now, as it is very likely that before installing Resistance there is no need to remove Satchels sound pack or any other config replacement? InRange 1 Posted June 24, 2002 Ah, good news. Now I don't have to go through the pain of looking for all the addons i have to delete. By the way, does that mean that OFP:R has a separate .exe? Or am I horribly wrong?

It means that if you are using config modification for "old" OFP, it will have no effect on Resistance.<span id='postcolor'> I'm not sure if you're being vague, I'm misunderstanding something or both. Satchel's Dynamic Range Sound Pack replaces the ofp\bin\config.bin file with a config.cpp file, which contains sound replacement references to the addon's PBO file. You, Suma, said that Resistance's install will not check or replace existing OFP files. You also said that there should be no conflicts between Resistance and any existing install. Does file ofp\bin\config.bin contain definitions or pointers to the sound files to be used? If pointers (to OGG sound files, for example), is your point that these will be replaced, rather than file config.bin? If not, how can there be new weapon sounds in Resistance for existing weapons? Ouch! I gotta headache.

Old OFP and Resistance has both their own separate configs. Resistance config: Res/bin/config.bin Old config: bin/config.bin. Similiar file structure has already been used for MPTest. Small note: After installing Resistance you will have two versions of OFP installed that you will be able to use: old OFP and OFP:Resistance. It will be very similiar to MPTest 1.60 in this aspect. theavonlady 2 Posted June 24, 2002 Then let me refine my question about new sounds: If I shoot an existing weapon model, say an M16, with Resistance installed, will the gunfire sound: 1) always be the same as it was until now? 2) always be different than it was until now? 3) will only be different when playing Resistance?
