How do I send out my missions I make?

Recommended Posts

If I want to send out missions for other people on the community to use, how do I do that? Like create a PBO file that people can download? And how can I make that available on the internet?

And can I put them up on this forum?(you never know what's illegal here)

Export the mission to .pbo, eventually pack the pbo file then together with a short readme into a .zip archive and upload it to one of the countless file hosters on the internet.

Once you have the link from your favorite file hoster, you create a new thread for your mission in the User Missions forum where you write a short description and add the download link.

You can "Export Mission to Singleplayer" and then copy it out of the mission folder in the ArmA directory. Use a file hosting site to upload missions and post in the ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS forum. Armaholic may find your post and upload your mission to their website for everyone to download.

(you never know what's illegal here)

Nothing is "illegal" here (Except obvious things). But there are forum rules which you, I, and everyone else is expected to read, respect, and accept. This is a privately owned forum and Bohemia Interactive can do with it as they see fit.

Thanks all responses, so this "export" option is in the editor?

Yes, located at the save button. There you find:

User mission - saves the mission as source file in your user missions folder

Export to single missions - saves the mission as .pbo in "Missions"

Export to multiplayer missions - saves the mission as .pbo in "MPMissions"

Send by email - Actually no idea what it does, never used in the past 11 years

Should totally make a tutorial for ArmA showing users how to do the basics.

Ya that be a great idea, I had already created a tutorial earlier this year

How to import SP/MP Missions into the editor(has export too)

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?126057-Is-there-a-way-to-import-single-player-missions-to-my-editor&p=2039105#post2039105

But maybe we could spruce up the one I already created with pics and other stuff.

I successfully exported it to singleplayer, and it does show up in scenarios, but it is not in the file that contains the other missions...does anyone know where it saves thr exported .pbo?

The exported pbo for sp should showup in the Arma2 directory in the missions folder.

Hmm that is rather depressing. I tried exporting to MP, SP, everything and checked all arma related files. Is there anything else you need tl dl to the mission to make it .pbo? It shiws up in my singlrplayer scenarios...

You need to go to your ArmA directory to get the PBO. Mine is located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Missions

Okay I'll write down exactly what I am doing:

1. Sign into computer with "USER" no exact profile(could that be it?)

2. Start the game

3. Go to singleplayer

4. Click on editor

5. Double click anywhere to create player start

6. Without doing anything else just hit save on the side panel

7. Send to singleplayer missions missions

Thats it. Do I maybe have to give it some time to finish?

From my tutorial:

Export to SP Missions

After saving your mission (either you have created a new mission or looking ,editing at an existing mission) as a User Mission (always do this!)

you then can have the option to export to SP Missions.

When you export to Sp missions the editor will PBO the mission folder and then move the pbo to this folder:

C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\Arma2\missions

Where do i find this mission I had exported to SP Missions once ingame?
When you get to the main menu of the game, you will find your exported missions under --> Main menu/Singe player\Scenarios

Export to MP Missions
After saving your mission (either you have created a new mission or looking ,editing at an existing mission) as a User Mission (always do this!)

you then can have the option to export to MP Missions.

When you export to Mp missions the editor will PBO the mission folder and then move the pbo to this folder:

C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\Arma2\Mpmissions

Where do i find this mission I had exported to MP Missions once ingame?
When you get to the main menu of the game, you will find your exported missions under -->

Main menu/Multiplayer\Scenarios and then host a server\choose island\pick your mission.

So save as a usermission if you wish to update the mission in the future, I suggest doing this all the time,

then to create a pbo just use the 2nd option under the usermission called export to singleplayer. Once you export s said in the tutorial it will create a pbo.

A pbo is just a zip file, when the game pbo's the mission its basically contains a folder with the title of your mission,

and a script file inside the mission folder called SQM but will be seen as mission.

again refer to my tutorial-->http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?126057-Is-there-a-way-to-import-single-player-missions-to-my-editor&p=2039105#post2039105

I have found the SQM. Its alone though, no scriot or anything.

If I upload just that will it be good enough for others to play it?

No. leave the sqm in the mission folder.

Heres what you can do theres another way to pbo a mission.

go into the mpeditor:

1. go to mp on the game menu.

2. host your own game

3. edit your mission

4. save your mission as (export to multiplayer)

5. the pbo will showup in the arma2 directory under mpmissions, just grab the pbo, zip it, and submit to armaholic with some info on your mission.

Of course you will need a host to upload your mission to, so you can submit your mission.

understand?

dropbox is a good for mission-->https://www.dropbox.com/

just make sure you zip the pbo and then upload, then you get a link to the file, and then submit.

Problem fixed:

For any future people with this problem: run game as administrator or it won't save it to the folder.

Thank you all.
