Online population?

I've been playing around with ArmA2 AO and I'm loving it so far, seems to be exactly what I've been looking for.

As far as I can tell, (except for the DayZ mod that a million servers is running) AO combined + ACE is the most popular combo?

I've downloaded Six updater and installed everything via that, and when I look in the server browser running that combo there's not many servers with players, and what servers that are full are mostly coop. I'd rather not play against AI, I want to play against players that can think, once you learn how AI works it's just shooting fish in a barrel.

I'm not going online for a while yet, as I still have lots to learn before I think I'm useful, but when I do I'd like to play against real people, not with them against a bunch of predictable bots.

Is that the state of online right now? Just coop? It seems to me that ArmA2 is probably one of the best environments I have seen with potential for some epic rounds against real humans on each side.

Or maybe the Six updater server browser is not showing all servers? I've looked on gametracker, not many servers there either.

Is there perhaps a better server browser that will show a better picture of the online population? Or is there other mod combos where more players are playing against eachother? I don't care if I have to install some other stuff, just want to play vs. other humans.

Do I need to find a community that plays vs. humans?

Sorry if these are newbie questions, I've searched and couldn't find much on the subject.

DAYZ is overpopulated. I've never seen so many full servers in arma 2. About 15 servers and atleast 5 are filled with 50 players at same time. Crazy thing.

One thing you can say is that the AI in Arma aren't as predictable as in other games. Especially as a lot of missions run with AI enhancements (of which there are many).

Having said that, if PvP or TvT is your thang then there are plenty of mission modes that cater for this. I would say though that at the moment co-op seems to be more prevelant. As to why, well forum wars have broken out discussing this! It shouldn't take you too long to find a heated thread about it!

ASR_AI aren't fish in the barrel! I use that mod and DAC to spawn most of my OPFOR in missions and they are pretty challenging. If you want PvP why not look for Project Reality? They only play againt humans.
