SpringSomFan 1 Posted April 27, 2012 Hey. I bought the Arma X: Anniversary Edition and a new computer, just to be able to play it. I fullfill the system requirements, and even if I put the graphics on the lowest options available, it is still not running good at all. Take a look: I mean, I can see myself that canyourunit does not think that my OS works. I have Windows 8 installed on this computer, and I mean, shouldn't I be able to ply this game on the lowest graphical settings, at least? I mean, come on? Thanks for fast answers. Regards, Joakim. [frl]myke 14 Posted April 27, 2012 Erm...what video card? Since it says at video Ram you have 256MB, i guess it is low-cost,low-performance card. Or is this a readout error of canyourunit?
McSpeed 1 Posted April 27, 2012 from the picture i would also guess its the graphic board. you have a kicking processor and plenty of ram, 256 mb graphic is a strange contrast there. are you using onboard graphics?
Horus 83 Posted April 28, 2012 For ArmA onboard graphic or AMD 5450 is not enough because now only these 2 combinations have 256MB VRAM.
SpringSomFan 1 Posted April 28, 2012 I found the problem, but the solution gave birth to yet another problem. I have a kickass graphics card, I have a CORE RADEON 7770 1000M 1GB D5 mDP HDMI DVI, but no drivers for it! The drivers that came along with the cd didn't work, and I find no drivers that work for my Windows 8 x64 computer, online! This ticks me off BIIIG time. I am having problems installing a Catalyst Control Center on my Win 8, anyone who can help?
[frl]myke 14 Posted April 28, 2012 I have a kickass graphics card, I have a CORE RADEON 7770 1000M 1GB D5 mDP HDMI DVI Hmmm...one sec... *looks at PC dealers website, filters for "Enthusiast" graphic cards....no entry for HD7770....* *looks again, now filtering for "High-end" graphics card....still no match...* *another try, now filtering for "Midrange" cards....and bingo, there we go...finally a match...* "Kickass graphic card"...aye, sure... I am having problems installing a Catalyst Control Center on my Win 8, anyone who can help? Uh...did i miss something? Last info i had was that Windows 8 isn't finalized and released and therefor not officially suppoerted by any hardware manufacturer nor software company. Use at own risk. Suggestion: Use Win 7 or lower.
McSpeed 1 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) yap, thats it, which brings me back to the days when win 7 was releaased... and vista... and xp.... omg... new drivers to the newest OS always trouble. be fair though. it might be classed as midrange card, but to some it does count as kick ass :) its all in the perspective. personally though, i see the words ATI, Drivers, and Problem in one sentence and its like nothing ever.. EVER changes :) hope you get it sorted. addendum: look into Dualboot setup. you should be able to run windows 7 alongside the win8 you have. keep the 7 for apps that require full hardware support and win 8 for.. well. dunno really... personally i really dont see an immediate need to yet again change OS. sure, 8 might be more optimized but i have no troubles with my 7 ultimate 64. (and i loathe the default win8 metro-touchscreeny-mobile-HUGE BUTTON- design) Edited April 28, 2012 by McSpeed

Fair enough, compared to onboard graphics it surely kicks ass. ;) No seriously, HD7770 is surely a good GPU and should be fully capable to run ArmA 2 with reasonable quality and FPS....given the drivers do work properly. personally though, i see the words ATI, Drivers, and Problem in one sentence and its like nothing ever.. EVER changes Well, i have ATI (and therefor the appropriate Drivers) and i don't have problems....probably because i use a OS that supports the drivers available (Vista x64 that is). :D I would bet my ass (and according to my wife it's a nice one) that as soon a supported OS is in use, the problem should be gone. hellfire257 3 Posted April 30, 2012 Yeah, I'd use Windows 7. Your mileage will be..varied...with Windows 8 at the moment. As others have mentioned, dualboot is the way to go.
