Nicholas 5 Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) This was compiled by a Canadian talk show host a few years ago. BhTZ_tgMUdo Come to your own conclusions. The whole series is actually quite funny. OT: I agree with Mr Cash, and the whole clock system is ridiculous. Will it ever be at more than 30 minutes? The instant it's at 0 minutes, will the world blow up? It's dramatic BS. Abs Damn how can someone be THAT stupid? They only show the idiots on the TV Show. Imagine how many people they had to ask before getting a few idiots. Every country in the entire world has it's idiots, it's not just the United States. I'm sure if someone set up a similar show in Canada (Or anywhere else), you'd find just as many idiots. It also shows the power of media organizations. If it's in the news, it must be real! Edited January 19, 2012 by Nicholas
abs 2 Posted January 19, 2012 They only show the idiots on the TV Show. Imagine how many people they had to ask before getting a few idiots. I'm not sure if you watched the clip, but they had governors saying the most ridiculous things as well. Also, the President, Al Gore, and many more... Anyway, too off topic. Perhaps they asked him to say it, maybe he knew it was a joke? It is completely pathetic that people will believe anything they see on TV, even if a powerful figure is seen saying it. abs 2 Posted January 19, 2012 Al Gore and GWB didn't seem like they were in a planned 'joke'. Anyway, I don't disagree with your point... Abs
GRS 10 Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) Nice you doubt that the validity of the study purely because you don't like the results. Real classy. I doubt the validity because it's hardly valid. Nice to see you don't doubt the validity of the study purely because you do like the results. Most college kids rarely pay attention to anything but beer and boobs, just the fact that they are currently "studying" does not mean they are more likely to be intelligent. And that video, while funny, is hard to take seriously. I'm sure that one, clearly biased, video is a clear cut indication. All of these "studies" are laughable. So you don't believe any random surveys? Ever? Even thought they have been proven time and again to be accurate and serve as the foundation of the democratic process in this country, not to mention public policy, economic planning, marketing and almost every other issue or operation of national importance? The survey didn't ask college students, it asked young adults. So you really think that college students don't learn anything while studying? That education doesn't broaden your perspective and make you seek and attain knowledge about the larger world? And you think that one's knowledge of geography is reflective of overall intelligence? And that when you graduate from college, you suddenly get smarter and more knowledgeable. It's okay to just drop your point, you know, and stick to expressing distaste for the myth of American stupidity, rather than trying to rebut my incontrovertible facts with increasingly absurd statements. No I don't believe "random" surveys with incredibly small samples and no given info about said sample or the "randomness" of the survey. Proven to be accurate? Says who? The researchers who did them? Foundation of democracy? Oh, maybe that's why the majority is always so happy.A real democracy is one were the actual majority rules, not an assumed "representative" majority. Ok, it was just "young adults" not only students, EVEN BETTER! Your point? Yes, college "broadens horizons" and no you don't get smarter immediately when you graduate, I never claimed that. My point is that the college/young adult scene is hardly representative of the country as a whole since they are only barely starting out in the real world where they actually have to care. Oh, but I'm just being absurd! :j: If you want to blindly follow all of this "research", taking that chance that it is all good, then that's OK with me. I choose not to unless I see that the research at least has some depth. Hell, it's quite possible that the research you showed me is correct, but I see no reason to believe it without question. NacroxNicke 11 Posted January 20, 2012 Yeah, so, every people that start to work in USA gets the knowledge of geography in their work, even a mechanic that lives in Texas. So the collegue is totally unuseful, as we all learn in our works how the world was done. Please don't think that because you learnt where was Iraq and Afghanistan, all the people of your country of the same age will know the same as you.

It's the "real world" and over time, not their job and instantly. And I don't think that.

Sometimes the real world are 12 hours in a garage repairing engines, and then 2 hours looking some TV show about entertainment Not all people go and fly around the world doing jobs, i would be surprised if the 4% of the population has that. GRS 10 Posted January 20, 2012 I never said they do. Point is, people tend to care more about knowing this stuff as they get older and realize it actually is important like their teachers said.
