It depends, please read very careful ...

looking at your post I think you are not familiar with advanced pc use, the first thing is that I want to advice you to let it be don by someone that is a little bit common with the advanced use in handling a PC it is not personal but when don wrong you might mess up a lot more then you will like if you do it wrong.

When a file is deleted from your computer it is not really deleted. It is simply removed from the directory of files in the folder. Because the operating system doesn't immediately re-use space from deleted files, a file can be recovered or unerased right after it has gone and for a considerable time afterwards. The sooner you try to recover your deleted files, the greater your chances of success. The longer you leave it the less chance you have of getting the data back because eventually some or all of the space that held your lost data will be re-used by another file.

The chances of recovery also depend on how full your computer's hard drive is. Windows tries to avoid re-using disk space that has recently been freed, to give recovery software a better chance of working. But the fuller a drive is, the sooner the free space is going to be used by other files.

If you have defragmented the hard drive since the file was deleted then this will severely harm the chances of a successful recovery. Current files will have been moved into the free space left by deleted files in order to reduce fragmentation, making it much less likely that undelete software will be able to find anything useful.

Use this tool to help you to recover deleted files http://www.uneraser.com/ please don't use this if you are not common with advanced pc use READ the manual carefully before handling ;) I hope this helps a bit ...

and last for the future, if you have files that you might want to re use later back them up zip or rar them and put them on a flash drive -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_flash_drive so you can safely recover it trough a normal procedure,

kind regards

thanks KBourne, I am pretty sure my files are some where on my computer i think because i tried to DL a program(Didnt work cuz i didnt buy it so i could not "Recover" it) and it showed the files or atleast a mission that was deleted the same time my template-mission was deleted!

Problem is i dont know how to recover it and have it back as an openable/editable folder! And yes i am not too knowlegable with computers and do not really understand what to do but ill have a try at what you said!

And don´t save to much stuff! Chances are that the new files will overwrite the deleted files.

ok so i DL'ed the getdataback thing and found some of the mission folders that was deleted, but it will not let me do anything with them, cant copy them or drag them over to the missions folders in my documents...so its kind of pointless as the files are there but i cant do anything with them..why not?

thanks Abs, DL'ing now! Is this a full/free version because I do not wish to spend money just to get back one simple file, if this does not work I will probly not make any more "Bases/AirBases-Templates" as its a pain in the ass specially when some how I always seem to get it lost permently before its ready to release, sorry to any of yous who actually liked my templates! If the requests are there for it i will probly continue to work on one...my original had every base on takistan/zargabad filled following proper Military guide lines which I have gathered from researching and my RL military experances

Dave,

Don't give up on it. It's just now that you've discovered how important regular backups of your personal files are. A simple DVD-R or USB-stick will be fine.

BTW @Abs I got the program you suggested to work and found the file although i think its only a Shortcut file...as it does nothing?

Nevermind...Its gone for good :(

Hi Soldier

I think you are used demo version, it will not allow you to do anything to recovered data. I will suggest you another software which i used when i am facing same problem. You can use Windows file recovery software, which recovers all files within few minutes and you can store recovered data in any storage media. Now you can download this software.
