walker 0 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) Hi all Several companies are working on Holodeck technology, Sony have done three videos showing just how far they have got. VrgWH1KUDt4 N_cKsOe7hLI HQ1KaYEBe5U Your next Sony Playstation? Not actual ingame footage. Scenes may differ in final product. Gimpsuit Slaves not included. Tentacles sold separately. maddogx 13 Posted December 5, 2011 What if I don't want my "seens" to differ? :p
walker 0 Posted December 5, 2011 Hi MadDog" Predictive text eh? Then artistically reduce the text size and set italics you miss stuff. Thanks for the correction. Corrected. "Seens" now reads scenes. Kind regards walker
PELHAM 10 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Usual nonsense, nothing to do with holograms, it's blue/green screen special effects, don't bother going to greatfilmsfillrooms.com there isn't anything there, it's just an advert for Sony Playstation, Playstation Store DVD's. It's a viral advertising campaign. §4) Advertising commercial products Do not advertise any commercial products other than those of BIS/BIA on the forums without prior BIS/BIA approval. walker 0 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Hi PELHAM It is an interesting bunch of videos showing what can be done toward producing the effects of a holodeck with existing technology. It is projected not blue/green screen. The person in the scene is seeing it. It is not a post production effect. I do not think Sony have a holodeck for sale yet. You do realise the bit in italics was written by me don't you? And I don't work for Sony. Kind regards walker Edited December 6, 2011 by walker

PELHAM 10 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Hi PELHAMIt is an interesting bunch of videos showing what can be done toward producing the effects of a holodeck with existing technology No it isn't - go to the website listed at the end of each film: Video Store of Playstation Store Choose from the latest blockbusters or all time classics Watch in SD or stunning 1080p HD No subscription. No late fees. Rent or buy from as little as £1.99/€1.99 It's viral advertising - there is nothing on that page about technology or holograms. There is no mention of holograms in the films either. Hi Beagle You posted as I was editing my post to reply to PELHAM on him making the same mistake about the nature of the video. Usual nonsense, nothing to do with holograms, it's blue/green screen special effects... I then added this part: It is projected not blue/green screen. The person in the scene is seeing it. It is not a post production effect. Kind Regards walker Edited December 6, 2011 by walker
dm 9 Posted December 6, 2011 It is projected not blue/green screen. The person in the scene is seeing it. Still not a hologram, just a bunch of linked projectors. Whoop de do. I'm with Pelham on this one, nothing more than viral advertising.
Beagle 684 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Hi Wallker I just checke the Sony websites alol over the world...nothing mentioned there. Do you really think they would not give at least a bit of an hint when they really had somethign that groundbreaking changing the future of display? Since ther eis no trace on info about this execpt the playstation website I seems to be another viral marketing video...hell even such conservative companies like Volkswagen use viral marktingn these days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVK3RVOctbU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1qYVnQz-j8 this is a viral campaign for the new VW minicar UP. walker 0 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Hi all BIS might consider doing the same for the Launch of ArmA III. Perhaps have a few of players in COTS projected shoot rooms Have some Blood spurt packages on the player and use the Laser Shot system and mix in some players with VR goggles in another country playing and some players playing with TrackIR in their bedrooms all in one Multi-player. Strap-line: "Where Ever You Play its ArmA III" Sub Strap line: "All actual in game footage produced with existing commercially available products" And sell the options via the BIS website link via the video. As I point out and the rest of you do not seem to be getting this is what is available Commercialy Off The Shelf (COTS) Kind Regards walker Edited December 6, 2011 by walker spelling

EDcase 87 Posted December 6, 2011 I think the HMZ-T1 is much more exciting (IF IT WORKS AS WELL AS STATED) What it needs to work well: -Good enough res: (1280x720 may be too low) -High refresh rate -Fast/accurate head tracking (or use TrackIR) -ARMA3 to be compatible*** At the moment ARMA2 does not work very well in 3d as the sights become doubled and unusable.
