Zoz 10 Posted November 7, 2011 If you like RTS that take place in WW2, you might want to take a look at Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943, and it's sequel Achtung Panzer: Operation Star, released some days ago. You can find a demo link in that page. I'm not going to lie, the UI is bad and the game in general will probably be very frustrating to most of the people, especially at the beginning. (Yeah, just like ArmA!) This is not your typical RTS at all, and probably most of you will hate it, but still.. give it a try if you have some (very) spare time. SaOk 112 Posted January 10, 2012 I liked the orginal "Kharkov 1943". It had much potential, but with too much games around I havent tried it for some time. Is this "Operation Star" much better? I heard the game have got much improvements since orginal game. Also the pricing have gone up much. I bought "Kharkov 1943" with 17 euros when it was released. This new one is 30euros. NacroxNicke 11 Posted January 10, 2012 So this is like Close Combat crossed with Combat Mission From what I saw I liked it, it have some flaws if you compare it with some wargames, but I think that they fixed most of them in the new version
Tac Error 2 Posted January 14, 2012 Is this "Operation Star" much better? I heard the game have got much improvements since orginal game. Yes. The latest patch added a revised operational map mode for the campaign which allows for 2-4 platoons per map square, the UI is much easier to read and off-map artillery+air support uses a new interface, among other things. Too bad the demo isn't up to date though.
SaOk 112 Posted January 15, 2012 Sound nice, the limited 1 platoon per map square was annoying, causing some unbalanced battles. But I am going to wait until the price drops some bit. The new summer DLC would be interesting too.
Hans Ludwig 0 Posted January 15, 2012 From watching the few Youtube videos of this game, I'm not sure if this is an RTS or a tank simulator. Their website, when it does work, doesn't tell me much. Most of the time their forums are filled with a lot of spam for Viagra.
Tac Error 2 Posted January 16, 2012 It is a tactical-level wargame. But the devs do have an M60A1/T-62 tank simulator sharing the same engine and campaign map, and I bet they plan on continuing to use the engine for future tank and tactical sims.
Hans Ludwig 0 Posted January 16, 2012 It is a tactical-level wargame. And that means?
Tac Error 2 Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) As per the Wikipedia definition: Tactical wargames are a type of wargame that models military conflict at a tactical level, i.e. units range from individual vehicles and squads to platoons or companies. As said by others, the game draws elements from both the Close Combat and Combat Mission series. Edited January 16, 2012 by Breakerchase
