For hasharajima...

Recommended Posts

I was perusing fas.org and came across this.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and download:

Fundamentals -- The HH-60G Helicopter.

I did not link to the file directly as it's 12.9mb

biggrin.gif

This handbook provides HH-60G crew members a comprehensive document containing fundamental employment procedures and techniques that may be used to accomplish the various missions of the HH-60G. This handbook is the primary HH-60G fundamentals reference document for Air Combat Command (ACC), Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC), Air National Guard (ANG), and Air Education and Training Command (AETC). Designed to be used in conjunction with MCM 3-1 (S) and AFI/MCI 11-series directives, this handbook addresses basic flying tasks and planning considerations for combat search and rescue. Although the techniques and procedures contained in this volume are not regulatory, they have been tested and proven to be safe and effective.

How cool is that? wink.gif

In defense of the American government, the document is dated 1997... so for all we know it's been superceded by something else so there is no harm in releasing it.

That site is a wealth of information and it seems pretty neutral. I wonder how accurate it is....

One thing is saying how fast a tank is. A completely different thing is to publish maneuvers of how to avoid AAA fire!

This could be directly used against US troops today.

Well, denoir I'd imagine this information would've been available through other means for a long time. The biggest problem is not knowing the information but actually putting it to use. Plus the things the US and Western forces have on their side is money. It doesn't much matter if your enemy knows how to avoid AAA fire if you can just use Anti-Air missiles like the Sidewinder from our thousands of 20+ million dollar planes as if they were growing on trees. biggrin.gif

Denoir's right!  I just shot down a Cobra right outside my house!  tounge.gif

EDIT: But Denoir does make a valid point...

No, what I was talking about are the evasive patterns for the blackhawk that are deifined. Very easy to put to use. You open fire on the chopper and can predict how they will turn since they are following standard procedures.

Ah you must be a member of the NRA tounge.gif Denoir does make a point but I am certain evasive maneuvers have been updated. Given US tactics, if they do the job right there won't be any AAA to fire. It's one of the first targets they go after
