zoog 18 Posted October 5, 2011 What are the plans for pre-flight planning in the career mode? Personally I would like a good emphasis on pre-flight planning, and not just a short briefing story and only a waypoint for your (first) destination. It would be nice to have to make a flight plan and take into account crowded downtown areas where you for example are not able to just fly without the permission of air traffic control (no idea how this in real life, but I presume there are many limitations in where you can fly at a given point in time). Or for example that you can not exceed a certain flying height when you are near specific airports due to fixed-wing traffic, etc. etc. While preparing for the mission you can for example place your own route with markers (with info like height, speed etc) to the destination, taking into consideration certain limits like other airtraffic (crowded/less crowded depending on time of mission etc). So not simply starting the mission and flying a straight line (as the crow/chopper flies) to your (first) objective of the mission.
-DirTyDeeDs--Ziggy- 0 Posted October 6, 2011 its all up to the creativity of the mission editor Map markers and simple sound triggers could help support dynamic waypoints with ATC announcements advising course directions. What you can see on the map at the mission start you can plan for, but later react to changes mid flight. this all sounds great in theory. the challenge remains to get a working mission with these things. :p
ocramweb 0 Posted October 7, 2011 I guess we will have to make an aeronautical map of the area with all the infos on it. So we can do a proper prep nav, instead of going toward that GET THERE 10KM flying marker ;) Proper ATC control is a nice addon to make for TKOH too
liquidpinky 11 Posted October 7, 2011 They could show out of bound areas and leave you to marke the map yourself and decide on the flighpath, maybe having recommended flight times etc or limiting fuel perhaps to add an edge to it. Like DirtyDeeds states, the possibilities are all their in the editor for making it happen.
-DirTyDeeDs--Ziggy- 0 Posted October 7, 2011 What would be some realistic consequences for traveling is restricted airspace? I can only imagine ATC warnings, threats, then finally getting a jet escort.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) If you make the mission yourself, you're probably able to plot the course like you would on an ordinary map, using waypoints that are set to "show". As the HC interface already allows you (in A2/OA) to create multiple waypoints for groups of subordinate AI, I guess it will be fully possible to create multiple waypoints for yourself on the fly. It just have to be created - and I guess that's the hard part :p You could even detect if map was open and have them shown, or disabled if the "GPS" was shown, in case you didn't "plot" the route on the GPS. This is BIS - an appropriate response to restricted airspace incursion would be a manpad placed on the ground taking you out :p As for maps, something like this Seattle VFR Terminal Chart? Since we have pilots here from the Seattle area, I guess we have our source for some good Jeppesen scans or something? :) If you inadvertently fly into restricted airspace and get repeated calls from ATC, just squawk 7600 and ignore them :D Sorry, couldn't resist :D Edited October 10, 2011 by CarlGustaffa
BadWeather 10 Posted October 11, 2011 There's a noflyzone called P51 that I'd say is the military base bangor trident to the west of seattle. So I guess a manpad would be appropriate.
