Caselius 94 Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) Paratroopers Last month i had an idea to make a campaign of paratroopers from Sicily to Operation Varsity in Germany. Later i thought it was too big project so i decided to start it from Operation Overlord. The campaign will have characters from 101st Airbourne,82nd and 6th Airborne (Later, because i make the US part first). So far I've planned that it will have 13 missions set in Overlord,Operation Market Garden,BotB and Germany. My progress will be slow, because i'm no expert in scripting. I know only basics. Also could anyone think me a fitting title for this? I ain't good with creating titles. Campaign Description Campaign tells story about 101st and 82nd Airbourne Divisions during D-Day,Operation Market Garden,Battle of the Bulge and Operation Varsity. I'll be posting pictures of my missions when i have finished couple missions, the Campaign is still very WIP. Also suggest mission ideas, as this is WIP so it will be easy to implement. MissionCreep 12 Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) How about "Band of Brothers"? It parallels the engagements of E "Easy" Company, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne division (except for Varsity) and the title has instant name-recognition from the book and TV mini-series. If you want some ideas, you can look at the book by Stephen Ambrose or watch the DVD series (I know it has inaccuracies etc) but, to me, it is always more fascinating to play a sim/game that is based (even if loosely) on real events. tom3kb 15 Posted September 21, 2011 About mission ideas real simple task: attack/eliminate mortar/artillery/flak battery or mg nest. Ambush on patrols or vehicle conwoy. Size city/destroy tanks. Defend position wait for reinforcements and attack enemy positions. Maybe 1 or 2 pilot mission: air fight with germans planes, [or escort bombers] or attack ground targets and stuff like that :). Maybe you can use some of this ideas.

Yeah, I have couple of ideas from the series and i have already made mission bit inspired by the Carentan episode when the Easy takes the town. This doesnt follow only the 101's 506 PIR, but also the 82nd and (maybe) the 6th Airbourne. So far i have planned to make the name as "Paratroopers" About mission ideas real simple task: attack/eliminate mortar/artillery/flak battery or mg nest. Ambush on patrols or vehicle conwoy. The first mission, will have jump to Normandy and taking out some flak positions and moving near town and meeting others, next mission will begin at same place and then they will take it. The last missions will be hard during Varsity and Bulge, because the enemy is desperate and throwing all their forces at player so there will be many defense and tank destroying missions. domokun 515 Posted September 23, 2011 (edited) Since you're interested in Op Market Garden, look perhaps beyond the Airborne division (more Commonwealth troops landed on D-Day than US). The Red Devils or British Paras (Op Torch, Op Tonga, Op Market Garden, Op Varsity) were very present as were the Polish Paras. For a different, albeit more contronversial, campaign you might also want to check the exploits of the Fallschirmjager (invasions Of Belgium, Holland & France, Op Weserübung, Op Merkur, defence of Monte Cassino). Finally, the SAS might be interesting as, although not speficially airborne troops, they were often inserted by air. Despite only starting in '42, they participated in numerous operations, often as a vanguard force. Their training, as well as their relatively small numbers, allowed them to be parachuted far behind enemy lines to conduct surveillance, sabotage and ambushes. Those are in my plans too, but i make the US part first then maybe the UK and Polish. The campaigns first version will be big even it just has 82nd and 101st, so i want to split it. Fallschrimjägers, ill think about that... Edited September 23, 2011 by Leopard
MissionCreep 12 Posted September 23, 2011 Hey Leopard ... any ambitions to so something around the Winter War of 1939-40? Outnumbered and outgunned, Finland's military fought the Red Army to an epic standstill ... I wonder if there is a Molotov cocktail add-on for Arma2?

Outnumbered and outgunned, Finland's military fought the Red Army to an epic standstill ... I wonder if there is a Molotov cocktail add-on for Arma2? I would do millions of missions around that if there would be released mods, i just need to sit and hope that FWW2 Mod will release to ArmA and move to ArmA 2. :) I don't have seen any Molotov addons so far.
