Bomber are a mint idea

kegetys and armourdave have released a a10 and a su25 with some bombs under

[Die Alive 0]

I got those bomber addons, and they're alright.  And bombing isn't as easy as pointing the aircraft and launching a bunch of rockets at the target.  It's hard to dive at your target, know when to pull up and when to release the bombs.  Plus these are fin-retarded bombs, meaning they slow down on release, so the trajectory is different if they were just dumb iron bombs.  Still, it's well worth a look if you're interested in seeing how bombing could be added to the game in an official addon.

Bring on the bombers !

If its done in a realistic/semi-realistic manner then having a few missions with a bomber in it wouldn't be overkill

(btw a few more large/larger maps would be nice too, perhaps a winter map too)

They were trying to go for this idea a while ago by making Falcon 4, an A-10 Simulator, and a Tank - Sim all able to link up together, but I gather the idea died cause of hardware limitations.

Sometimes the OFP community brings a smile to my face.

One minute its "Wah! <something> in OFP isnt realistic!" and the next "Bombers would be crap because they could drop a big bomb on you and youll be dead - you wouldnt stand a chance!".

Sake, make up your minds whether you want OFP to be realistic or not. Bombers are real. Bombs are real. If youre in the wrong place at the wrong time, bad luck.

If you feel bombers would be unfair or upset the balance of the game, dont install them or play another mission. Dont go slagging the person off who wants them included in the game.

I wouldnt care if BIS put a rubber duck in to throw at the enemy. Its a feature. Use it or leave it.

I agree with those who say that we don't need bombers.

Bombers are usually used against strategical targets and quiet ineffective against infantry. (I doubt that one taliban fighter was killed per bomb dropped by US).

Furthermore, bombers often attack from high altitude (esp. if enemy radar capability is weak). Imagine you are gunner in a Shilka and the bomber attacks at 1500m - you can't see him due to the view_distance limitation - good luck

Myself personally am opposed to the idea of a bomber. If you really must have one then make it yourself or talk to someone who can.
