Problem running dedicated Dominator 2 AI West w/ACE

Recommended Posts

HI All,

Firstly I am a bit new to this. Been playing ARMA 2 for some time but only recently discovered the Dominator 2 mod and was very impressed. Also my PC plays it at a good framerate now! :bounce3:

I am trying to setup a dedicated server but I am having problems setting it, mainly due to errors when I am trying to connect a client but also I have an error when the server starts.

MY cmd line for the server is as follows...

"C:\Temp\arma 2\arma2server.exe" -port=2302 -name=default -config=default\server.cfg -cfg=default\Arma2.cfg -profiles=default -mod=@ace;@sap;cba_v0-7-6\@cba

Not sure I need all the mods listed there but it recommended them as part of the install.

When I run it the first thing it says is..

No entry 'default\Arma2.cfg.3D_Performance'

This does not appear to affect it starting once I hit OK and I get

15:23:16 Dedicated host created.

15:23:17 BattlEye Server: Initialized (v1.122)

15:23:17 Host identity created.

When I connect a client I get...

15:25:38 chrism uses modified data file - CA

15:25:38 Player chrism connecting.

15:25:39 Player chrism connected (id=6225991).

Then once the client picks a mission on the console I get...

15:26:38 Mission co@40 DomiA2! ACE West AI [2.11] read from bank.

And thats as far as it gets. The client just hangs there forever or until I press escape. If I pick a standard mission it works fine.

Could this be a problem with a CFG file? File structure?

I followed the install instructions from here

http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Installation

and put the missions in the MPMISSIONS folder.

Other than that I'm a bit stuck.

If anyone has any help I would be most grateful.

Hi,

you mean Domination 2 AI West w/ACE, correct? never heard of Dominator 2.

Your command line:

-mod=@ace;@sap;cba_v0-7-6\@cba

make it say:

-mod=@cba;@ace;@sap

you only need CBA, and first to load.

Also post your RPT, as their could be things your missing that the mission needs to run.

Personally I never seen the point on creating a dedicated server, i mean you can host a mission on your own computer without

having all the settings, and command line bs needed to run, but I rent a gameserver for $10 a month, my buddy pays for it, and I admin,

and build all missions, as well as added missions from the community for it.

Considering all he knows is how to install a mod, its a good deal.

Anyways post your RPT if you can and lets see whats going on.

chrism uses modified data file - CA
You're not connecting with any mods enabled.

The @CBA modfolder is not sufficient for A2, you require @CBA and @CBA_A2.

Move the folders from CBA_v0-7-7 into the game folder like any other mod. And use @CBA;@CBA_A2 instead.

Also the server is only running the main @ACE mod folder, it's unlikely the Domination mission only requires @ACE.

At the very least it will require @ACEX too.

Lastly, You might wanna consider swapping to the superior OA game and ACE for OA mod, DomiOA is include with it too.

Personally I never seen the point on creating a dedicated server
Dedicate all power to serving missions (instead of spending it on Graphics/Sound other clientside stuff), run remotely / headless without need of interaction of the 'admin' user.

Testing multiplayer missions for real (as a true client, instead of a client/server that behaves basically equal to SP)... the list goes on.

Yes, Domination 2 ....... duh!

OK, thanks for the advice fellas. I gave the -mod=@cba;@ace;@sap a try Gunther and got the error on startup of....

Include file x\cba\addons\main\script_macros_commom.hpp not found

As for dedicated, I have a spare server and a 10mb up/down line plus we want the persistant world so we can get back to missions where we left off.

That's obvious because you placed the @CBA modfolder in CBA_v0-7-7 subfolder, so as mentioned, move the @CBA and @CBA_A2 folders into the game folder.

And use -mod=@cba;@cba_a2;@ace;@sap

Secondly you will want to get @ACEX too.

Hi Sickboy, thanks for the input.

I often connect to servers running Domination 2 they usually display as running co40 Domi A2! West Revive. as far as I know I don't have to use any switches or have content installed for them to work, it seems to be server side only however it does download the Mission file.

Gunther - can you tell me what the RPT is? Remember I'm new to ARMA 2 servers!

Many thanks

You're running the ACE version of Domination, so you'll have to run the ACE mods on client and server.

Somehow missed you were only playing Arma2 alone, but anyways.

Im not interested in dedicated server as I test mp mission client side, unless you are hosting for others which

I dont then dedicated would be the way to go I suppose, considering I dont have the computer to host,

I have a gameserver which my buddy pays for and I do all the admin work on it.

As for dedicated, I have a spare server and a 10mb up/down line plus we want the persistent

world so we can get back to missions where we left off.

persistent world is just a matter of a code:

persistence=1

Hope you got your issue sorted out.

In the end I decided to use the Six Updater to see if I can get this resolved, unfortunately I get the following errors when I try to update the mod folders....

15:27:22: = @ACE

15:27:22: Mod is tagged 'disabled' in the configuration file. Skipping...

15:27:23:

15:27:23: = @ACEX

15:27:23: Mod is tagged 'disabled' in the configuration file. Skipping...

15:27:23:

15:27:23: = @ACEX_USNavy

15:27:23: Mod is tagged 'disabled' in the configuration file. Skipping...

15:27:24:

15:27:24: = @ACEX_SM

15:27:24: Mod is tagged 'disabled' in the configuration file. Skipping...

15:27:24:

15:27:24: = @ACEX_RU

15:27:24: Mod is tagged 'disabled' in the configuration file. Skipping...

The CBA stuff goes on fine.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, feel free to move it!

I'll try to take this up on the Six Updater forums if possible.

Probably wrong game edition selected / detected.

See http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+FAQ#Paths%20(Game,%20mods,%20pack%20etc)

Especially check the Steam note if you have steam.

If still issues, please create a ticket with requested details like log files; http://www.six-updater.net/p/support.html

And i'll get on it right away.
