New NASA moon photos show landing sites, footprints etc

Recommended Posts

I hate August and September. Freaking basement dwelling, never kissed a girl, off their meds kooks are out in bigger numbers then usual.

If you mean me I'm happily married and have been with the same woman for 14 years. Hmmm maybe that has something to do with it?

What does this have to do with the Moon? Wow i can get laid (or better yet for some reason i post it on forums where it has no relevance), who gives a ****.

Anyway, with this latest Moon launch, hopefully we might get a glimpse at a bit more detail of the composition and a better idea of the lunar landscape. Would be good to get a decent look at the darkside , if only a radar shot of the surface. I hope i'm here for two things in my life concerning space exploration and the Moon.

1. Mars Landing.

2. Moon Base.

Ok one more, the obvious one.

3. Maybe alien life (Aslong as they're friendly, Ewok type creatures would be nice).

Oh yeah and Nuclear Fusion, which could hopefully lead to the other 3.

P.S. The first comment wasn't a jibe at anyone, its just............ really? Do we need to derail another thread with crap.

This comment is aimed at someone, jblackrupert.

Just looked back at your posts in this thread, nothing constructive, nothing on topic (just some bollox about DVD sales and conspiracies). A challenge for you, come back with something we can read without saying

"oh ffs here we go again".

Sorry for the little rant there, but its getting the norm on these forums and really starting to wind me up.

Excellent post Shadow D.

The two spacecraft launched today (10/09/11), called Grail-A and Grail-B, are flying on an energy-efficient path to the moon, and are expected to arrive at their lunar target around New Year's Day (Jan. 1).

"We've used gravity science before, however these have been very primitive attempts compared to what Grail will be able to accomplish," Robert Fogel, Grail program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., said in a news briefing on Wednesday (Sept. 7).

Understanding how the origin of the moon and how it evolved will shed light on how other rocky planets in the inner solar system formed, said Maria Zuber, Grail principal investigator at MIT.

"We have orbital reconnaissance of the surface, we have lunar samples which we can analyze in Earth labs," Zuber said. "The piece of the puzzle that has been missing in trying to reconstruct lunar evolution is understanding of the lunar interior."
