(Question) Engage Command @ Multiplayer

Hi all!

It might be a frequently asked/lame question, but well, i was seeking for answer for an hour, and found nothing so far, so...

Anyone knows, which key combo or which menu command needs, to order squad/member to ENGAGE target, and not "target" or "attack" ?

Like when an AI leading the squad, he says, for example:

"1, Engage that machinegunner" then if i want to do the same as squad leader, i can only do "attack that" and "target that" commands.

No... i simply didn't find it. I'm still trying, but found nothing...

I know most of commands, but this one looks like goes over my knowledge.. :)

Some day i played on a random server, where the squad leader used this command, before that i didn't even thought its even possible for human players.. tried to ask him about it, but he didn't tell.

If you are a squad leader, you do select all by pressing a "~" key.

Aim at the unit to be engaged and select first option in menu.

I tried that earlier, that's the attack command, and says "attack that".

Plus when im doing it with an AI, it doesnt attack sh#t at all...

If the AI isn't doing tasks as intended, you might want to consider either editing your profile, and increasing their skill.

Or, try playing on Veteran difficulty.

Here, I also recommend the Zeus AI mod.

Best method iv found, which I do as a matter of course each time buying AI..

'~' to select all ai units

then press 3 for the engage menu, then I usually select engage at will which is 5.

Usually setting danger mode is helpful when going into a fight, 7, 2

Yeah, used to do almost the same, i often order/target enemy units with selecting actual unit, pressing 2 and order him to "target" unit... The only annoying in it, he really gonna target immediately, when he manning a vehicle or a static gun... otherwise takes 1-2mins to find the enemy, even when its 30m to him and clearly visible, lol.

Thats why i wanted to obtain the combo of direct engage command somehow, because if a bot gives this order to an other bot, it really engaging immediately, no matter what the situation is.

The real question is why you would want your AI to engage a target in the first place? Telling an AI to engage or attack lets him leave his current formation. This invariably results in the AI running off on his own, attempting to run across hopelessly open terrain, then dying ignobly to stray machinegun fire.

If you are still keen. Once you've given an AI a target the combo 3(engage)-4(engage) sends the AI off to his death.
