glowbal 13 Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) Hello, I've recently started map creation again. I spend some time finding good tools for creating satallite images, but all decent ones I could find cost money of course. So I decided to make my sat map manualy by making pictures of the area and then pasting into the big picture. I collected all the data, however I ended up with this result after putting it together: http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/5681/examplekt.png (145kb) The arrows pointing down point at matching pieces, while the others pointing up, point at pieces that are not matched. The black line in the middle is the border between them, and the red line on top is, well.. the top of the image (has to be cut still). Do you recon this is fixable or should I rather start over? And if so, any advise on how to? Thanks in advance, Glow Edited August 23, 2011 by Glowbal
Robster 11 Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) Did you try with the Gimp or Irfanview? remember that in a map you have to get a "binary multiplied square" image... i.e.: 1024x1024, 2048x2048, etc... If you can use Photoshop CS5 you can apply and fix all that almost automatically...Cheers! Edited August 23, 2011 by Robster
glowbal 13 Posted August 24, 2011 (edited) Thanks Robster. Sadly content aware fill doesn't help. I'm probally going to start over. Thanks Edit: Will a 7680x7680 satellite picture work? Edited August 24, 2011 by Glowbal
Pfhaota 11 Posted August 24, 2011 I've been using fiji to stitch images together, however my images were made to fit from the start, however you might still find it useful as it has some blending options. http://fiji.sc/wiki/index.php/Fiji http://pacific.mpi-cbg.de/wiki/index.php/Stitching_2D/3D#Stitch_Grid_of_Images Hugin is another tool to stitch panorama photos together but I guess it could be used for your needs too. http://hugin.sourceforge.net/ http://hugin.sourceforge.net/tutorials/scans/en.shtml Good luck! Robster 11 Posted August 24, 2011 Edit: Will a 7680x7680 satellite picture work? yes. To not to tweak settings on map, I always go for a well known measure: 8192x8192, 5120x5120, 4096x4096, all binary multiplied... saludos!
