red oct 2 Posted May 26, 2002 best movie entertainment wise in my opinion is Iron Monkey, it used special effects like cables, cheap props, really fancy camra and computer work, and propably used stunt devils, but was, at least i think so, the most entertaining out of the movies, the second fav was The Lengend of Drunken Master. i had others that i've seen but couldn't remember the names. red oct 2 Posted May 26, 2002 if you like that, than you'll love Iron Monkey, they have all kinds of that, one scene is where the 2 good guys vs the bad guy fighting on top a bunch of long thin verticle wooden poles that are inbeded in the ground while at the bottom rages a feirce fire. really cool stuff
Jester983 0 Posted May 26, 2002 Im not a big fan of Kung Fu movies. Never liked them. I more of the person that likes to watch War movies/Action movies.
red oct 2 Posted May 26, 2002 kung fu movies are the most popular type of action film in the states, i dont see why not. i think its much more sweet watching to guys doin all these fast moves than watchin some nuts shoot each other w/ a gun
Major Fubar 0 Posted May 26, 2002 I have reached a consensus: I am literally the only person in the world who didn't love Crouching Tiger...I thought it was very overrated. My favourite would be "Zipang"...very cheesy, but very entertaining.
Warin 0 Posted May 26, 2002 CTHD was very artistic. The cinematography and direction were amazing. The story was great...the acting above average. But I voted for Rumble in the Bronx. Why? It's FUN. Jackie Chan movies will never win an Oscar...but they are a hell of a lot of fun to watch. The action is great, the stunts are great, and they dont rely on a lot of wirework...which I find more than a little distracting when I am trying to enjoy a good action movie. The Matrix was an almost perfect blend of kung-fu and wirework plus story...but not 'fun' Fun is a good thing when you deal with annoying people every day at work
ralphwiggum 6 Posted May 26, 2002 unlisted here is, 'The Fist of Legend'(or something like that) played by Jet Li in earlier years. choreographed and fast recorded, but was IMO realistic enough.
MAsta_KFC 0 Posted May 26, 2002 Any Jet Li movie is good. Except for maybe The One.
Die Alive 0 Posted May 30, 2002 I didn't like Crotch Tiger, I actually hate all Kung Fu movies where people go flying and running in air and fight on roof tops of poles. I like the traditional kung fu movies, bad guy and a good guy, and a bunch of goons in between them. Once Upon a Time in China series (Li) The Young Master (Chan) Enter the Dragon (Bruce Lee) Enter the Fat Dragon (Samo Hung) Crippled Avengers Shaolin Temple Kids from Shaolin The Tai-Chi Master Fists of Legend etc etc etc... I must of watched over 100 kung fu movies in the past 5 years, I rent them, I go see old ones at rep cinemas, film fests, etc... there's just so many out there, each with it's own style and thing. People see a couple Jackie Chan movies or Jet Li movies and think that's the best kung fu movies out there, but they aint. Legned of the Drunken Master is actually a movie that came out in 1993 in Hong Kong and asia under the name of Drunken Master II (Drunken Master I was done in 1978), and then 7 years later, it comes out in the states because some US film company buys the rights to that movie and dubs them. When Legend of Drunken Master came out, I saw it at least 12 times in theater already and I owned V-CD copy of it. A big fuss was made over CTHD, but it's not that good, as kung fu movies goes. Asain movies in general are way better than any hollywood dribble that's pumped out. They seem to have lots of fresh ideas and some really good actors that make watching those movies way more entertaining than any hollywood crap. -=Die Alive=-
R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted May 31, 2002 Chinese ghost story. I just love the cheesy special effects in that movie. What would a kung-fu movie be without lightnings and flying people.
FallenPaladin 0 Posted May 31, 2002 I like most the movies of Jet Li. Great are all the "Once upon a time in China" movies!
