mortyfero99 10 Posted July 30, 2011 Every time my squad mates detect an enemy they say "enemy at 3 o'clock", but 3 o'clock of what ?? Of my movement direction ?? Why don't they use compass degrees ?? Thanks for help !!
Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted July 30, 2011 Think of it this way, if you and an AI squad mate are together, moving on patrol facing the same direction, and lets say your facing north which is 0 degrees on the compass or rather 12 o clock. He reports enemy 3 oclock, 100 m, that means the enemy is at your 3 oclock 100m, which east of your position at 100 meters, thats like 2-3 houses over from you if your in a town. There is also the clock indicator in the game that you can use as a guide, watch in association when the enemy report, and see what direction that clock points at, and then look at your compass, and see where everything is at in relation. Does that make sense?

Why don't they use compass degrees ??Thanks for help !! It's generally a problem in ArmA2. 3 o'clock of the current direction of the unit. As each unit can face any direction, you get massive amounts of confusion after previous clock reports, unless your clock HUD icon shows you how the clock is curretly orientated. IMO the clock should be more "solid" and less prone to re-orientation. I've suggested several times my own ideas for clock orientation bias: 1. Clock is orientated toward leader's temporary placed waypoint. 2. Clock is orientated toward next mission waypoint. 3. Clock is orientated to direction of movement over last 100m (or whatever distance). 4. Clock is orientated as per the leader's direction. In that order. CarlGustaffa 4 Posted July 31, 2011 The clock indicator needs certain difficulty options to be set to show.
Nicholas 5 Posted July 31, 2011 If playing under "Regular" difficulty mode, the clock indicator should be on. Sometimes it gets confusing as they are reporting where they see the enemy from their position, not yours.
