Differnces between Arma 2: free and retail Arma 2 CO

I"m considering buying arma: X and would like feedback on the multiplayer community in arma 2: CO. IF you guys could spare time to let me know some info on these topics that would be great!

1. Is it fairly easy to find a server to play on with 10+ active players in arma 2: CO?

2. Are games like warfare: Benny edition popular in arma 2: CO?

3. I have read about the ACE mod and it seems like something I like. Can I play on many servers using this mod?

Arma 2 free is mostly TK fests.

Not the majority of Free players doing it but enough to make most servers with them unplayable.

Paid version will allow you to join servers using addons that keeps the free players out.

There are also server side addons now that prevent TKing (Believe PVPScene made one), so it's up to server admins to L2 protect their servers. Can't blame everything on people that are purposely griefing the game if you aren't taking precautions to stop it.

To answer the original question, Retail CO also includes OA content so you'll have more features and units/weapons to play with.

A2F players (currently?) cannot join servers with addons - even if server side.

Wow that's a pretty big fail on BIS' behalf. We were told that *CLIENTS* cannot use mods, not *SERVERS* couldn't use mods.

Hope that gets solved quickly.

Doesn't matter much GossamerSolid, does it (if I've got this right)? An A2F client cannot join a server running e.g. FDF Mod anyway, so why should an A2F server be able to run FDF?

there is no A2F server technically. only a2 servers.

one with a2 full pbos and one with a2 free pbos but that is irrelevant

We run stuff like Zeus AI on our server so serverside AI get the improvments too. I wasn't talking about running something like FDF :)
