Gubar 0 Posted June 29, 2011 Hi, I've played campaigns of all OFP/ARMA variants but this is my first time online. I've connected my mic to my PC but I hear no one talking (tried to cycle teamspeak etc). Is there something else I have to do or is no one using mics? First time I've played any PC game online BTW, cheers gubar
gossamersolid 155 Posted June 29, 2011 Not many people use VOIP in the servers I've played in, most people stick to TS3/Vent/Mumble. Anyways the default push to talk key is CAPS LOCK (I've changed mine to Mouse Button 5). The default text chat button is / or ? depending on how you look at it. cannonouscrash 12 Posted June 29, 2011 If you do talk in the server rather than TS/Vent/Mumble, make sure you're on the correct channel. Spamming the wrong channel can be very annoying for everyone else in the server. For example :- Global - Speaks to everyone, if playing PVP, you will broadcast to the enemy as well as your own side. Side - Broadcasts to everyone who is the same faction as you. Group - Broadcasts to just the people in your unit, AKA the ones with the diamonds. Direct - This broadcasts in 3d in the game. Its probably the best one without annoying everyone else on the server. There are a few more channels such as :- Commander (no idea what this one does) Vehicle - Talks to people that are in the vehicle you are in. Theres probably one or two more, but i cant remember. Funkman 10 Posted July 2, 2011 Hi I am having troubles with chat too. I can hear everone, and they can see my text chat, but when I push CAPS to talk, no one hears me. My mic is on and works fine when recording. Any ideas of what I can do?
sparks50 0 Posted July 2, 2011 Are you in the correct channel? Just like with text chat, you have to be in side channel for people in your team to hear you etc.

kremator 1065 Posted July 3, 2011 VOIP is great on servers. There is no real need to use any other voice comms.
vohk 10 Posted July 3, 2011 Make sure your mic is plugged in and working before you start Arma. Once launched the game won't detect a new mic, and will won't find it back if you unplug it and put it back (or disable/enable the device). Also, make sure your desired mic is your default recording device; ideally disable any others.
