Consisten World/MMO/Stat saves?

Recommended Posts

My clan is currently working on a consistent RPG for Arma II. One of our major issues that we are thinking about is how to make the world consistent. For instance, when we leave the game we can jump back in later that night and our positions, equipment, food, supplies, ect will still be there.

Also, is there any way of doing some sort of character customization? Not just the face but have different options of clothes and such. Thanks!

UHM if you ask the Devs at HGS they have an addon called SL2 that saves stats. They may be able to help you the game they use this on is Chernarus Life Ultimate.

I'd rather not have to resort to using someone elses code but I may have to.

Anyone? Really need some assistance with this.

The mission will be hosted on a computer with 5-7 people. I just need it to where when the host stops the mission, he can start it up later and our positions will still be the same as with gear, food, bandages, ect.

Hi,

I'm thinking ask these guys:

http://www.kellys-heroes.eu/files/tutorials/dedicated/

they might know.

All I have ever done was leave the server running and use the code persistant=1 in the server cfg. but that was a gameserver i rented.

Your talking about quitting the mission altogether, so i'm thinking you might have to look into the mission cache and how it works.

I really cant say, but ask kelly's heros guys, they might have an idea.

hope that helps.

Ahm, wasn't there somewhere a library which gave you an interface to an SQL Database? I can't remember the name but I think there was something like this

Edit, perhaps by kegetys but i'm really not sure

This is all very interesting. I am curious to how this is done too. My group are working on an RPG and look to saving stats after the server restart. There are many ways it can be done, but most of them require time and effort and a little bit of external coding AFAIK.

Create scripts to save and load everything needed to recreate the game world as it is. Then you use something like jayArma2Lib to create a program to accept this data and save it to a text file or database or something else. When you load you do the opposite.

Alternative is to wait until someone finalizes something that makes this easier (seen someone working on database library for Arma), with you required only to do limited arma scripting.
