Pinocul75 0 Posted May 23, 2011 (edited) hello, would require a system to autoload addons in arma3 as "addon sync " which will help people to download the correct addons / mod for specific servers before connecting.:j: Edited May 23, 2011 by Pinocul75
rye1 21 Posted May 23, 2011 That is a cool idea, I don't like the "expansions" options as if you get an addon that requires another addon then it messes up and there is a big process just to get the .exe working again. A big process, sorry, no, just a big pain in the :D. It would be nice if it also showed you what an addon required in order to work.
sickboy 13 Posted May 23, 2011 Would be great to have some sort of API / support in the engine. But in any case I will keep developing Six Updater and support ArmA 3; http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=118605 It also supports mods dependency management and processing missions etc. There's similair threads on the same subject btw; http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1930476#post1930476 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=119261

jonneymendoza 10 Posted May 23, 2011 i made a similar thread but with six updater and someone from BIS said they are actually working on something similar for arma 3. i hope its something like COD games where when you join a server that uses a certain mod, you auto download that mod before you join. sickboy 13 Posted May 23, 2011 I wouldn't put too much stock in that; for starters no-one from BIS wrote in the thread, while pufu says BIS is probably aware of it and might have something up their sleeves. I'd wait for official word before cheering :) ---------- Post added at 10:11 ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 ---------- What about an API to create extra user interface within the gamemenu so you can create a plugin rather than an external application? We already can create extra user interface, and also interact somewhat with the outside world through endevours like JayArma2Lib,however what is lacking is game API's for telling which addons we need to download, realtime mod loading or which startup params were used to be able to restart the game properly, etc.
jonneymendoza 10 Posted May 23, 2011 True. anyways a bit off topic but i hope my i7 is good enough to run arma 3. i hope Arma 3 is more GPU dependent this time round.
gonk 0 Posted May 23, 2011 would be nice.... maybe run it like a torrent and all the other clients feed the guy who is missing the addons...rather than loading up the server.
sickboy 13 Posted May 23, 2011 would be nice.... maybe run it like a torrent and all the other clients feed the guy who is missing the addons...rather than loading up the server. That would be rather bad, people have generally low upload speeds and enough lag / desync to deal with already.Off-loading it off the game server is a good idea, but not to the clients. jonneymendoza 10 Posted May 23, 2011 yea. look at how cod and CSS do it. i think the best solution is for BIS to hire Sickboy and let him take care of this ;)
