Can I join an A2:CO host with only A2:RFT (and A2) ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have ARMA2 since it came out and now want to retake, want to play in a clan that it's hosts execute ARMA2 in Combined Operations mode.

So, can I join this server A2:CO with only buying "ARMA2 Reinforcements" plus my ARMA2 ?

according to:http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ARMA2_PackageCombination it has SP&MP full of Operation Arrowhead but says nothing about A2:CO.

Thanks

you read it wrong, fixed formating on the page, RFT has no OA SP ...

but yes You will be able join with the A2:RFT+A2 to A2:CO as it is A2:CO (just w/o the SP campaigns and missions:)

I know RFT doesn't have OA SP , don't know why I wrote it  . So thanks for the answer, with A2 and RFT I will be able to full join a A2:CO server

Yesterday I received Reinforcements DVD and installed it, the default directory was the ARMA2 one, so I left it install inside. But no combined operations icon or exe appeared o installed, only ARMA2RFT.exe.

I have to do anything different to install ARMA2RFT in A2:CO mode? viewing the ARMA2 PackageCombination page I should get CO with this setup

A2:RFT+A2 = A2:CO, A2-FullSP&MP, OA-FullMP, A2:BAF-FullSP&MP, A2:PMC-FullSP&MP

ARMA2RFT.exe binary in A2:CO mode is MP compatible with A2:CO(A2:OA+A2 or A2:RFT+A2) and A2: OA games

I think this is just fine.

You need the use the arma2rft.exe. It will load CO automagically.

Just try it and see if you have Utes and Chernarus available.

If Arma2 is listed with the mods/expansions, you're running CO. As far as I understand..

If A2 and OA (or RFT) are installed in the same directory, launching OA (/RFT) will automatically load up as Combined Operations. I have something similar going with the Steam version and symlinks (using the method Dwarden posted in the CO thread).

If they're in separate directories (re:Steam), you need to launch OA(/RFT) with some extra stuff in the "-mod=" launch parameter* (what I used to do) or use the provided batch file.

*"-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;Expansion;ca;" <-- Steam A2/Win7

I have Utes and Chernarus available as maps, but in the internet servers all appear with a yellow circle with a question mark in it, I can join them so I don't know if it's this normal. I can see only one server that has green circle, and it has operation arrowhead lite (as I have looking in the expansions menu) in the expansions description.

I thought "lite" was only for SP, and full MP, so servers should be green, but I think it has no real effect inside I have seen

Yellow means the server has different addons than you.

However don't worry. It is actually only a problem if the current mission needs these additional addons.

So as long as a mission with standard arma content is running, even a yellow server is fine.

Lite means low quality textures for the DLC for people not having bought the DLC.

So the OA maps in multiplayer missions are low quality with A2+RFT? I tought it was full OA MP Content with this combination

You read wrong again! Nobody said that RFT has BAF(light) or PMC(light). The light version came with 1.56 Patch for Operation Arrowhead and as RFT user you don't needto care for that.

Yep as Beagle says. RFT has BAF and PMC full.

For technical reasons a server always has only the lite files, yet it doesn't matter as the

server has no graphics anyway. :P
