Westsailor 10 Posted April 21, 2011 I tried sorting this out thru various sources but can't seem to find a definitive answer: It appears that ArmA 2:Combined Operations is basically ArmA 2 + Operation Arrowhead. Is Combined Operations an integration of Arma 2 & Operation Arrowhead? Or is CO essentially two separate games (as it is displayed on the CO webpage). Reason I ask is, Operation Arrowhead is described as picking up "Three years after the conflict in Chernarus, portrayed in the original Arma 2". If I purchase CO will I be able to start the campaign from the beginning (i.e. Arma 2)? Finally, there doesn't seem to be a demo for Combined Operations or Reinforcements. I presume that might be because the demo for Operation Arrowhead would show me what I should expect in Combined Ops or Reinforcements? i.e. game engine, performance, basic gameplay mechanics, etc.? Tonci87 163 Posted April 21, 2011 CO means the games merge together, you can play with OA and Arma2 content at the same time
tom3kb 15 Posted April 21, 2011 Arma 2 + Operation Arrowhead = Arma 2 CO In CO you get all 3 campaigns and sp/mp missions from this 2 games. From Arma 2: Harvest red and Eagle Wing campaigns. From OA campaign Operation Arrowhead. + demo campaign(1 mission) from Pmc dlc. Patch 1.56 adds full version pmc campaign but now its only 1 mission.
Westsailor 10 Posted April 22, 2011 After looking at some of the fan sites It looks to me that Arma 2 has the largest community base. At least based on the number of mods, etc. available. Will an ArmA 2 add-on, mod, scenario etc. work under the CO (ArmA 2+CA) or Reinforcement version? In other words, lets say I wanted to use an ArmA 2 WWII mod. Would this mod work with the Combined Ops or Reinforcement version? Conversely, is it backwards compatible? Would a Operation Arrowhead mod/add-on (vehicle, weapon, etc.) work within Arma 2? Just wondering which version to get based on most popularity, community support, # of online servers, etc.
EDcase 87 Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) Most ARMA2 mods WILL work in OA OA mods will NOT work in ARMA2 I'd suggest getting: ArmA2 + Reinforcements which gives you the most content To be honest I don't know what OA offers that Reinforcements doesn't have. Once you have it all installed you must also install the latest patch. The game should show version 1.59 Edited April 22, 2011 by EDcase
