UnMapping and creating a new UV Map

Recommended Posts

Hi people, I have just started to learn modelling. I have ported a model from sketch-up as a learning tool and want to make a new UV map as the old one is awkward and too complex (it has over 20 texture file references!). I have already tried searching "unmap" and "remove uv map" etc. to no effect.

Anyway, I would like to unmap this and make my own textures, by which I would like to un map first then make a new map. I just want to make a full 1 file map like the regular arma models. Need help!

That doesn't work (for me here).

You have to select all in the 3d viewport, open the uv editor, 'select faces by selection in object', then press del.

Myke;1899921']Open UV editor in O2' date=' select all (ctrl + A) and hit DEL. Everything unmapped.[/quote']

Myke, wouldn't that delete all the unwrapped model? - meaning you'd have to unwrap the model all over again?:eek:

Wouldn't it be better to just cut and paste the unwrapped components to a new one piece texture file?

@cleggy

if it is not mapped at all, what do you want to "select"...there is nothing to select in the UV mapper if it is not mapped.

Sorry if I've mis-understood the issue. I thought the model was mapped - but to many different texture files.:confused:

I assumed the model had been ported into O2 (no idea how you would do this - as a 3ds file?) and therefore would be showing unwrapped components in the UV editor.

My bad?
