gamer102 0 Posted May 18, 2002 Hi, i have recently completed the single player of flashpoint and decided i would have a go at the multiplayer aspect of the game. Unfortunatly im having some problems getting into games, i have the latest update (1.46) and the game runs perfectly smooth on my system. I tryed joining through gamespy and it all goes fine untill it says the "creating client" loading part, at which point it exits to desktop with no error message. i then tryed hosting a game and it seemed fine. i tryed the avon FAQ page and tryed the changing the port, but when i went to multiplayer in OFP and selected to change port or type an ip address the game crashes to desktop. my system specs are: Win 98 AMD XP 1700+ KR7A GF2 mx 400 PCI 128mb DDR ram any help to solve this would be apreciated, i emailed BI's tech support but they didnt reply. also have tryed reeinstalling the game several times. Villayinblack 0 Posted May 19, 2002 I have exactly the same problem. I use GSarcade ,everything works until the game tries to connect to host, then loading stops and desktop appears without an error message. I have tried LAN games, but the game can´t "smell" them, nor host. I cant upgrade UI at the moment, so any other solutions would do better. Placebo 31 Posted May 19, 2002 Do either of you use routers or such things?
jawk2 1 Posted May 19, 2002 Some things guys *i hope it can help*: -Did both of u updated the various addon *especially the editor addon*? -Check both in you flashpoint folder the file flashpoint.rpt *it's the log of your crash... so u might have a clue of what fuck* -After GS didnt tell u but u dont have to run OPF before joining, instead GSpy will start for you OPF -Next because of Placebo i got an idea... all u you run this: "DXdiag.exe" in windows exec panel and check out your DirectX version and the directplay panel. -Did both of u use a firewall (free the OPF default port 2234)? Check out in MSDOS windows with the command "Netstate -a" (check out if u got a port locked by the firewall, especially the TCP port 2234 *not very sure of it... i m Lawyer not informatician*). I hope seeing both of u in MP later

Chris Death 0 Posted May 20, 2002 For some reason i agree to jawk in believing, this is caused by missing some addons. If you even crash, before you are at the client setup menu, i guess it could be some islands you're missing. btw - i also could be totally wrong - just a thinking hope this helps - CD
Villayinblack 0 Posted May 20, 2002 Ok thanks for your inputs. I got it working. A wrong version of DirectX was the problem. I noticed that the "network" section of DXdiag tool said it only had 4 OK´s out of 8, and I upgraded the whole DirectX. You needed a different dowload of DX8 for W95, something I didn´t notice back then. It still cant host LAN games properly, but it doesn´t really bother me at the moment.
