nikiforos 450 Posted April 11, 2011 Hello I have an 21.5 monitor and max resolution is 1980x1080 When I play Arma 2 I turn it down to 1680x1050 so I can gain some more FPS. When I play with 1680x1050 I can still use the whole screen but after I made some changes when I play with the same it doesnt stretch all over the screen. I cant run full screen now:(. When I choose 1980x1080 the game uses the whole screen. What can I do to solve this problem?
Deadfast 43 Posted April 11, 2011 Make sure the interface resolution is set to 1980x1080 and you only change the 3D resolution.
Neopas 10 Posted April 11, 2011 Take a look at your arma2oa.cfg first to make sure resolutions are defined how you want them.If everything is fine there, then at Nvidia Control Panel you have a tab called "Adjust desktop size and position".There you can find the scaling options.Maybe you made some changes there? When you use a resolution other than your monitor`s native,it`s better to use one with the same aspect ratio.
nikiforos 450 Posted April 11, 2011 Neopas I solved it through the "Adjust desktop size and position" :). Now I can play 1680x1050 with full screen resolution :). Thank you all for fast response. Euxaristo Neopas :)
Neopas 10 Posted April 11, 2011 Give 1600x900 a try sometime. You might get better results in terms of FoV. Parakalo Nikifore.
Gunter Severloh 4071 Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) I have a similar problem except I really dont have any issues with resolution, my problem deals with the video settings. Everytime I get into game be it sp, or mp, I have to change my video setting to either high low, it really dont matter what they are changed to, as if I dont change the setting I get a white drab back ground, no painted on mountians or scenery. After I change my vid settings everything is normal, and I only have to do it one time as long as Im in game I dont have to do it again, when I leave the game then again I need to redo the setting, WTF gives. any have any ideas what the problem is? my specs are: win xp 32bit amd cpu single 2.6 Nvidia geforce gtx 260 2g ram 750psu Edited April 11, 2011 by Gnter Severloh
Neopas 10 Posted April 11, 2011 Unfortunately I`ve no idea about the problem itself, but I was wondering if it goes away only with a video setting change or AltTab/flush work too,so at least you could avoid changing your settings everytime. If not ,I would double check whether it doesn`t really matter what the settings are changed to. Also by "get into game" and "leave the game" ,you mean start/join mission and finish/exit mission, or launch/exit Arma?In case of the latter I would again go through the values in cfg file and make sure they`re fine, and that the file itself it`s not marked as ''read only''. Gunter Severloh 4071 Posted April 12, 2011 The problem starts already setup before I get ingame, when i start the game (not starting a mission, or joining) the problem is there, only way to fix the problem which I only notice when i start a mission via editor or on my server in mp. When i join my gameserver I have the same issue, my buddy joins ingame and dont have the problem. I jsut change my vid settings and I get the background back. If I quit the game entirely then I have to change my settings again, but if I quit a mission then I can join another mission or the same mission with no issues. Alt tab dont do anything, as I alt tab alot to stop or start our server. Bu the problem exists both in sp and mp. I forget now where is the cfg, i looked at it before but that was a while ago, is that supposed to be in my documents somehwere?
Neopas 10 Posted April 12, 2011 My documents\Arma2\arma2oa.cfg is the path in XP. If a problem is present everytime you launch the game it`s a good place to look. Make sure it`s not set as read only if you want to make changes there.
Gunter Severloh 4071 Posted April 12, 2011 nope not read only, i can open np with notepad, heres whats in it: language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=19231; Resolution_Bpp=32; Resolution_W=1600; Resolution_H=900; refresh=60; winX=16; winY=32; winW=800; winH=600; winDefW=800; winDefH=600; Render_W=1600; Render_H=900; FSAA=0; postFX=0; GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=0; HDRPrecision=8; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=915909633; nonlocalVRAM=527433727; Windowed=0; vsync=0; AToC=7; dont know if that tells you anything. Its not patch related, at least i dont think so as I had it before 1.
Neopas 10 Posted April 13, 2011 Sorry,I don`t see anything obviously problematic there(3D perf is a bit low probably due to your cpu). One thing you could try is to set a real value (1-8) for the gpu_maxframesahead setting (preferably use the same value you have in your Nvidia Contol Panel),although this setting is known to fix other issues like mouse lag and not graphical distortion. Good luck
domokun 515 Posted April 13, 2011 If this problem has only appeared after patching from 1.57 to 1.59, then try changing "AToC=7" to "AToC=0". Hope that helps
Gunter Severloh 4071 Posted April 13, 2011 One thing you could try is to set a real value (1-8) for the gpu_maxframesahead setting But it says 1000, i'm missing what your saying with the (1-8), and I looked at the control panel theres no page there with numbers for the 3d as far as I understand. Problem was there before 1.57.
Neopas 10 Posted April 14, 2011 1000 is not a real value from what I `ve read in other threads in this forum about maxframesahead setting.A logical value would be 1 up to 8. Nvidia Control Panel\Manage 3D settings\maximum pre-rendered frames. Hope you ll deal with the issue.
Gunter Severloh 4071 Posted April 14, 2011 Well I opened nvidia control panel, found the setting, changed it to 8, and it did nothing other then make the game look better, but I still dont have the painted on background, I know its fake but the game looks like crap without the background, looks drab and boring. Theres got to be another way or reason this is happening.
