Where's the malden islands located?

Recommended Posts

Just a little question, where's the Malden islands located?

They cant be in the sea north of Russia, because it's snow up there from october to june...

So, where can it be, in the Black Sea or...?

Another question, wheres the islands located to each other?

I thought that Everon lies in northeast to Malden, and Kolgujev lies east of Malden.

Why does the americans attack Everon at the airfield (from northeast) in mission 25, Return to Eden?

And when the russians attacks Malden in mission 10 (i dont know its name) when they attacks with spetznatz, then you are in the absolutely most southwestern part of malden...yeah yeah...exuseme for my bad english, but what do you think?

BIS won`t tell us anyway where the islands are located. They obviously fear every OFP gamer would soon be tourist there wink.gif

I dont mean that they exist in real world, but BIS must have an idea of where the islands would be located at our dear globe...?

there've been a few threads about this, and yes, all the islands (except Desert Island) are based (loosely) on real islands. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. I would post links to these old threads, but I am too lazy biggrin.gif

And the islands are taken from different parts of the globe... i.e. the islands they are based on arent an actual island group

The desert island is based on Meganissi as you can see in Avon's FAQ (where nobody bothered to watch). LordZach posted a link but it was probably so well hidden that nobody saw it.

Here's the link again if you don't find it in his post. smile.gif

I think he is asking the fictitious location of the 3 islands. For instance, when OFP first came out I remember someone said he thought they were fictional islands in the Black Sea. I'm not sure if BIS even came up with a fictional real world location of the Islands. So I guess we can make up our own. tounge.gif

My theory is that they are fictional islands in Baltic Sea just south of the Aland Islands. Seems to me to be a good spot from which NATO can keep eyes on the Russians biggrin.gif

I have an old globe and I found an island east of the northern tip of Finland called O. Kolguyev. It is the same shape as Kolguyev in OFP. Grab a globe and check it out.
